Is there anyone out there who really thinks the Blazers should trade just for the sake of trading? I would assume that when a GM makes a trade, it is to improve their ball club in one way or another. I don't think anyone is saying trade just to trade. Some are saying trade, but to make the team better, instead of waiting for on the young ones to reach their potential. Also, what I do read, that makes sense, are posters who raise the idea of do you trade to better the team in the short run? But no GM trades just to make a trade . . . that is a cliche with very little substance behind it. I think the Blazers have so many pieces, why not take a crack at trading away one ot two potential piece to help the current team be more consistent. Not trade away the entire future and not trade just to make a trade.

I agree. I also think that there's a misconception that standing pat doesn't have any risks either. The main risk being players' talent level stalling out and losing trade value over time (TO I'm looking at you).
Heh, funny, GO. If KP can make a deal before the deadline that fits the parameters of making this team better over the next several years, plus gives us a better shot at making the playoffs this year, I'm all for it. This talk of bringing in a dork like Curry just to make a deal is stupid, however.
Walton's issues were that the Blazers trainers (through lack of knowledge or negligence) kept shooting him full of drugs and sending him out to battle. The Blazers sat Webs down the instant he felt pain. Worlds apart, imo. I'm fine with letting a 22y/o guy take a month extra to make sure he's fully healed. Especially since we're not baking cake right now anyway. It's not like he's missing out learning how to play with Oden and Bayless, since Oden and Bayless are missing out on learning how to play with Oden and Bayless, too.
I don't think that's at all a fair representation of what he's posted. He's in favor of adding a third scorer and there are certain players that he's not as high on here as some of the rest of us. You're either misunderstanding what he's saying or intentionally distorting it because he's consistently negative and it bugs you. Ed O.

What a silly notion. It actually means this group will have time together to gel and become fluid as a team, which should make them a possible spoiler by playoff time. BAKE IT!
If the Blazers make the playoffs, they'll be 1st Rd and done team anyway. There's no trade out there that's getting them to the WCF. Let's not get greedy. The playoffs are a five-man affair, and Roy/Aldridge/Oden (not to mention most of the bench) have no experience in the post-season, assuming they pick up a SF and PG that does. I want them to get to the playoffs, but I want them to get there without giving up Roy, Aldridge, Oden, Batum, Fernandez, Przybilla, and if all possible Webster, Blake, and Bayless. I'll give up any of those last three with any of our remaining players if it gets us a young starting ready point guard. Getting a Jason Kidd or a Steve Nash is just stupid. It would be the equivalent of flat out cutting players. Players don't have any trade value when they retire. As for small forward, we have one in Batum. He just needs a little more experience. Sure, if a young good one is available like the ones people have been mentioning (Butler, Wallace) I'd like to get them, but not in exchange for the whole farm. I don't expect those teams to be offering them for peanuts, and I think it's silly to believe the rumors that they are. There's 29 other teams in the NBA those teams can deal with, and they're definitely going to take the best offer available. Teams lose a few games. Look at Boston. Let's get through January and see where we're at. In any case, I'm with Maris. Let them gel a little bit. They're not done getting better. Make a trade if it's a good one, but don't sell out a better future for now, now, now.
I say sell out our "veterans" that won't be part of our glorious future. Playing Blake isn't "baking". We're not getting Oden or Bayless experience playing with each other. We're not seeing what Nicolas can do in more than 18 minutes (except, you know, go perfect from the field for 17 pts). We're not building an offense around Oden getting the ball more than 5 times per game. It seems that it's one or the other...either "Bake It", where i'll accept rookie mistakes (and perhaps losses) while building for the future. Or we play to win, in which case we don't accept excuses for poor play. And I disagree about us not being able to make noise in the playoffs. Perhaps not as currently constructed and with the injuries we have now. But there ARE trades that will be out there that will be Gasol-esque.
