    2 down, 8 to go...

He's played 7+ minutes at halftime with 2 rebounds and 2 blocks tonight. I think it's safe to say that he's probably going to make it to 10 games.

Disagree. He won't get ten games in before Memphis has to commit to pay him for the rest of the year, and it remains to be seen what actual game play will do to his knee. 10 games is not a sure thing at this point. Not at all.

    That was an interesting read.

I've always thought in the back of my mind that the Blazers can still play this summer, even with Miles back on the books. I thought that because all this cap flexibility for the summer of 2009 manuvering started while Miles was still on the books. I can't imagine management having all these grand plans back then banking on a Miles medical retirement.

To summerize, if Miles goes on the books, the Blazers will still have about 9 mil to play with this summer and if they really want to go after a superstar (if one is out there) they can decide to not pick up the options on Blake or Outlaw (or both) and add about another 4 mil/player to the money they offer a free agent. . . . potenitally 17 mil (give or take).

I say dump Blake and Outlaw and offer all 17 mil extended contract to Iverson. :D

It's not, but I wonder why the Griz would pay Miles for 10 games (while he is suspended) just to cut him after a few games where he plays. Basically they payed him 13 games for playing in 3 . . . if that is how it works? :dunno:

Yeah, but at the minimum. They may have wanted to audition him for a few real NBA games to see if he can play at a level that will help the team, before committing to him for the rest of the year.

I really doubt Memphis did it to help the team. What's one sorry player coming off the bench going to do to help us win. I seriously think he was signed just to piss y'all off.

Yeah, that's the way it looks so far. We'll see what happens tomorrow. Will the Grizzlies guarantee his contract for the rest of the year?

I'm actually not convinced of that. The timing is pretty incompetent, if that's the case. I realise Chris Wallace is seen as pretty incompetent, but even he could have timed this better. Had he signed Miles earlier in the season, he could have kept Miles on the roster for the necessary 20 games (10 suspension, 10 played in) and cut him loose with no further commitment. As it stands, to have him play in 10 games, he'll need to commit to Miles for the full season.

    Is Chris Wallace that dumb?

Even smarter would have been to wait until the trade deadline had passed and then if KP had sat on Lafrentz, there would be zero wiggle room, we'd be stuck with whatever FA money would be available this summer without the option to get proactive ... although I'm not sure how the rules for salary work later in the season (even if it had to be a guaranteed deal it would still be prorated for the remaining games, so still not a big deal).

My guess is that Miles can still play, he did after all get two blocks and two boards in a measly 7 minutes tonight ... good for him I guess. :dunno:

Clyde Drexler says he can still play and is in shape. He says he could dress tomorrow and play at the level he was at when he retired. He also says if he did, he wouldn't be able to walk the next day. Lets see if they play Miles tomorrow on a back to back, and then if he can practice on Thursday and play Friday before we render any opinion on his fitness.

Hmmm.... just checked the box score. Miles didn't play in the second half. Wonder why?

    He didn't score.

Didn't score the other day either.

I don't think he has proven anything yet.
