The Nets have reportadly traded Marc Jackson and Linton Johnson to New Orleans for Bostjan Nachbar. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2342131The Nets' motive for the deal was to get under the tax level to sign Tim Thomas if and when the Bulls buy out his contract.

Simple deal, Hornets needed a big after Vroman broke his wrist. And I guess Tim Thomas is a lock to Nets from what you said?

Hes not a lock, but there is mutual interest and the Nets are one of the teams expected to make a run at him if Thomas becomes avaible..

Another small "who-cares" deal.I like Nachbar, but he's never gonna be anything great (boy, do I wish the Rockets drafted TayShaun Prince or Carlos Loozer)Jackson is overpaid, but after the Steven Hunter deal fell through- the Hornets had to do something (thanks to the suspension of the druggie, and the trading of Magloire this season).

I say watch for Linton Johnson III to do something with Hornets. He could benefit from Paul greatly.

Yeah, I was dissapointed to see him go. He deserves to play, hopefully he gets a shot in New Orleans, because he could be a very good player..

Jeez, I don't know why NJ did this? I mean, Nachbar is a decent shooter but not much on defense or anything else. Jackson is a rough, gritty, hard working defensive player. Way to give up all you power, Nets...

This trade gets us under the Salary tax and could open the door for us to sign Tim Thomas (one open roster spot since it was a 2 for 1 deal)..<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (CB4AllStar @ Feb 23 2006, 04:41 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Jeez, I don't know why NJ did this? Yeah well it seems kind of stupid that you just signed him and then traded him away. Oh well, why was he in Frank's doghouse anyway? He seemed like the type of player the Nets needed.
