IF we play defense vs GS like we did against the Pistons...we are dead.

This Warriors team will score 100 on us unless they just really have a "off" night. With or without roy, if we dont play tough, tough defense i don't think we can out score them. they are one of those teams that just wanna shoot and keep shooting. Portland cant keep up with that. They had better slow this game down big time.

The difference with detroit is you knew they would let the blazers back in with a shooting funk which they had. The problem with GS...they wont go 3-5 minutes without scoring. Thats a problem for a blazers team who have lots of issues scoring. With that said, if they cant score vs the warriors defense....we have major issues.

This game is so big for confidence. Last home game for a bit and it will keep momentum, confidence, and a general good feeling heading out east.

MAKE NO MISTAKE. This is just as big of a game for us as the pistons game. We have to start beating bad teams if we wanna have a shot at post season play. :NOTMARIS:

You're absolutly right, MIXUM. Because a team on a 7 game winning streak and with one of the best records in the league is so much easier to beat than the mighty Warriors. And getting that scrub Roy back probably won't help the Blazers at all either.

Well there is a reason the Blazers lost to them earlier this season, they fell for the old Don Nelson "get them to play at the pace where you are comfortable" trick. Don Nelson is very good at recognizing when the coaches he is up against are the type of coach that "matches up" with the opposition, rather than dictating the tempo by forcing matchup problems the other way. Coaches (or ex coaches) of that type are Avory Johnson, Mike Dunleavy, and it seems about half the time, like Nate McMillan. Sometimes Nate falls for it. Sometimes he doesn't. But every time he does, we lose. That is because Golden State is putting their best small players on the floor, and Nate tries to match up with them, instead of putting big guys on the floor, and forcing problems for them instead.

The best thing Nate could do in this game is put in the twin towers and see how they deal with it. They need to see the floor more anyhow.

pistons wont score 110 points on you. warriors will...sometimes in 3 qtrs.

only difference...pistons play defense. warriors wont. blazers need to play defense and should be fine.

    Beat me to it, e_blazer.

Not to mention one of the best defensive teams in the league is so much easier to defeat than the worst.

I knew, just knew, that Mixum would find SOMETHING to gripe about to assuage his disappointment that Travis's game winning shot went into the basket.

Sure, the Warriors may score 100. They also give up 120.

You know you can say that, but the facts are the Blazers are much more comfortable playing at the Detroit pace than the Golden State pace. Whoever dictates the tempo will win.

OK, I know you’re going to say, “There goes Dwight, yelling at the kids to get off his lawn again. The grumpy old fool.” And sure, the Blazers won without Brandon Roy. That’s great. But the Pistons were without Rasheed and Rip — and there were several bad signs in this game that should not be swept under the carpet just because it was a one-point win.

There are bad signs every game. Every. Single. Game.

Not only for the Blazers, but for every team.

I don't think that anyone here claims Portland is perfect, and I know of very few posters here who think that last night was a monumental or corner-turning win that indicates that this team has finally arrived.

But last night was a good win, whether it was by 20 or by 1. And while, yes, Portland will have to beat bad teams as well as good teams to make the playoffs, that's the EXACT same spot that every other team in the NBA finds itself.

MIXUM should be the suicide hotline's poster-child. Anyone who was even remotely considering suicide could check out MIXUM's body of work and think to themselves, "Shit, maybe things really aren't that bad in my life, relatively speaking."

I think there are a lot of fans who can't accept that there are problems because of the teams record.

Yes, our defense throughout most of the game blew. We need to stop switching on every possession, and yes we need to throw the ball in to Oden as much as possible on nights like last night.

Nonsense. In two thirds of their wins this season, the Blazers have scored over 100 points. The reasons that they've scored less of late are: 1) no Roy the past 4 games; and 2) the past 4 games have been against 4 of the top defensive clubs in the league.

I'm not saying that the Blazer don't have to play well to beat the Warriors, but to say that they don't have enough offense to win is just flat wrong, IMO.

i think saturday is gonna be a pretty tough game for us. i really dont think we can keep up with GS on offense.

if we play tough physical defense... we should be okay cause they don't play defense either.

heres a prediction....the pacers sweep the blazers this year. that team will give us nightmares for a month with their scoring. and they always play us well.

There's a balance between knowing there are problems and not being able to ever show joy over anything ever.

MIXUM is like the fat chick in a group of hot girls at a bar. When you go talk to them, the fat chick is always saying shit like "this place sucks" or "do they ever play a good song in here" or "my drink is watered down" just absolutely bringing down the mood of everyone because their life sucks and nobody pays any attention to them.

I thought it was more Anthony Morrow shooting the lights out and some unbelievably bad officiating. I attended that game in Oakland and wasn't the least bit surprised to see to multiple threads complaining about the officiating rolling when I got back to my computer. LA fouled out in 19 minutes mostly on flops from Corey Maggette and do you recall that foul on Rudy when he stole the ball and was grabbed from behind? It was like the guys in stripes had some money riding.

IMO throwing it into Oden as much as possible would have been a bad idea. First of all he was sitting on the bench. (Which is out of bounds) and secondly he is not ready to back his man down without traveling on a consistent basis. Yes we need to drive and hit him in motion, but to consciously keep feeding him is not working.
I am having flashback to Magloire. Work him into the offense but don't force it in.

On another note, GS is not a good match up for us. I feel good that BRoy will be back and i think the crowd will be into it, but GS makes me nervous. I agree we can't run with them.

    LOL.

Actually, I'd put even money that MIXUM isn't even a Blazers fan at all. He could just as easily be some guy with a twisted sense of humor who just lives to pull our chains.

do you think i would waste my time with a team that never gets over the hump? i mean its been 6 years since playoffs. by now i would be bothering mavs fans or something.

problem is, theres so many who think everythings ok after we win. when we start beating top western teams and are a lock to make the playoffs...i"ll shut up. until then this team just a middle of the road type team wether most wanna admit it or not.

Actually, he reminds me of the man who walks into a lesbian bar and just can't accept women there are enjoying themselves and no one is paying attention to what he says.
