Im not necessarily saying that I am advocating this but Im really just more curious than anything cuz I didnt watch enough of them to know: Did Ohio State or specifically Mike Conley and Greg Oden ever run the pick n roll with much sucess or even at all? I guess what Im getting at is this something Greg would be good at if the right point guard actaully tried to get him the ball or is him being SO wide open really just pointless. Im not sure one way or another but I would be really curious to find out.
http://www.dwightjaynes.com/pragmatism-rules this guys is right...the victory is being made out to be an impressive win. we played awful...mostly on defense. GS will eat us alive.
On both offense and defense, i see GO as being slow on the pick and roll. Well not slow, but not playing at NBA speed. I think his effort and speed has increased since he first started playing . . . but still a step and half slow, IMO.
Sorry to say, but Oden is slow as a slug! I truly believe the best free agen pick-up by the blazers would be David Robinson! Bring this guy in as an Assistant coach to do NOTHING BUT work with Oden. If not David, then another former NBA center that was known for fundamentals and tenacity. If the Blazers don't consider this addition - Greg may never learn footwork, develop an offensive arsenal (that jump hook he's got going on looks so awkward - maybe we hire Jabbar if David is not available? Nah, Jabbar is too old. Bill Walton? or is his back still ailing him? Maybe Alonzo would be a good fit. If it weren't for Mournings health problems, I think he'd have gone down as a top ten Center of the NBA. Tenacity at its best.
