I guarantee you that if the opportunity to sign him for 10-15mil a year they will figure a way

It won't happen. Lakers have about 74 million in cap in 2010. The cap is set at 58 million (or around there). In order to do that, we must get 10-15 million under 58 million. We have to cut nearly 30 million off the cap. Tell me how we manage to pull that off.

Only way Lebron comes is if he accepts the MLE or vets minimum (lawlz).

It'll be more fun for me if we can defeat Bron in the Final.

He's not coming to LAL, I doubt Nike makes up that kind of difference.

Those contracts will be more appealing by then...especially when the Lakers want next to nothing for them

Yeah well that's only 15 million, assuming it happens. That at best puts us under the cap by 2 or 3 million, which isn't even MLE money. We need to be under the cap by 10-15 million. Not to mention Luke is pretty much untradable. Vladrad is possible, though, but if we trade him we need to take salary back, same with Luke. It's impossible.

We're above the cap so we can't just trade for picks, we have to take back equal salary in return.

Luke's contract is horrific and incredibly long, getting rid of just Vlad won't be enough.

It really isnt as horrific as we all think it is....5mil a year for a borderline starter is not much at all when you see what other are getting paid

Even if we get rid of some terrible contracts on our roster we don't have enough cap.

I'm pretty sure Luke's stock has fallen with just about everyone, it isn't like he has an impressive body of work.

Still doesn't matter if we trade him. It doesn't matter if we trade Vlad. It doesn't matter if Fish retires. We have to take equal salary in return because we're above the cap, and even if Mitch somehow manages to get expirings in return, we're still nowhere close to having enough money to sign Lebron unless he accepts the MLE or vets minimum, so it's not going to happen.

What? I think that's going to be the matchup anyway.

Numbers are not right anyways. Fisher's contract expires in 2010. So we still have 75 million without D-Fish. Him retiring does nothing to lower our cap. So trading Luke and Vlad is 12 million. That's worthless.

I just also wanted to point out that the cap should be around 63mil by the time the 2010 offseason happens. So there is an extra 5 mil.

Also, you are wrong about taking equal salary in return...teams under the cap can trade for bigger contracts and teams over the cap can trade for smaller contracts.

    Example: LINK

So Vlad and/or Luke for picks (aka: 0) is possible

It doesn't matter if it goes up to 63 million. We're still nowhere close. And teams under the cap are not going to use up their cap space to take Luke or Vladrad.

    74 - 12 = 62

Even if we somehow manage to pull off the impossible, where's the 10-15 million coming from? We're 1 million under the cap. That doesn't give us anything.

Both Farmar and Yue won't even be under contract, so their numbers don't matter.

Sasha is getting MLE money. 5 million. If we somehow manage to trade Luke, Vladrad, AND Sasha to teams under the cap for nothing more than draft picks or expirings, (which is impossible. why would teams want to waste their cap for them) that leaves what, 6-7 million? Also, how many times do you see teams trading away MLE deals to teams under the cap. It doesn't happen very often, let alone three times by the same team in one offseason.

And again, still not 10-15 million if it goes down.

You're left with a three man roster of Bynum/Kobe/Gasol.

Again, there's absolutely no chance this is going to happen. You know how much we're hated around the league and teams are not just going to line up and take contracts off our book to help us land "Lebron." After what happened after the Gasol deal do you really think any team wants to help us steal Lebron in free agency? The idea of Lebron signing for 10-15 million is crazy at best. Cleveland has built a competitive team in the East, I don't see him leaving. And if he does leave, why wouldn't he take on the big deal in New York.

This isn't going to happen. I don't know why we're even talking about it. It's just some random speculation by a writer.

LeBron will be a Net in 2010 and he will lead us to our third straight championship that first season.

I can't wait to see LeBron pair up with the invincible Devin Harris, Brook Lopez, and Ryan Anderson. 2011 title. Lock it up.
