It's paying him for 10 games where he doesn't play and then only playing him a few minutes before cutting him that doesn't sit well.

Especially, as papa pointed out, this is a franchise so concerned with saving money they traded for livingston to waive him and get a little cash out of it. Why do that and then pay Miles for 10 games when they can't even play him?

I haven't really gone through the entire thread, so maybe someone had posted what he said. But what did he say about it?

And here you go, courtesy of bustabucket.com (of course, it's a remake of the best Blazers poster ever):

Yes, but only by midnight tomorrow. He could have played an addition 3 games for them if they were really "trying him out". In addition to actually playing him some meaningful and substantial minutes.

Cutting him with 2 games left of the 10 is a tell, and I am glad the Blazers have called foul and forewarned teams that signing Miles to a 10-day deal and jogging him up and down the court for 2 games will challenged in a court of law.

Greg and LaMarcus should switch spots on the poster. Greg's arms are almost exactly as Bucks were.

Clearly? We're going on like what, 2 minutes of playing time?

I heard parts of it in the car. Basically said what I've been saying. It isn't at all about Darius, it's about paying luxury tax as a result of a "bad-faith" practice by a fellow NBA team. I came away feeling it was more about being defrauded out of $8 million than it was about this summer's cap flexibility.

Wow, they look exactly the same, minus the face. Hopefully Oden isn't just the second coming of Buck Williams....

I loved Buck and he was a great player and even put up big numbers with NJ. He never put up huge numbers for the Blazers but could have if we needed him to. I think Oden has a chance to have a better career then Buck but I wouldn't be that upset if Oden only ended up being as good as Buck at the center position compared to Buck at the PF.

I'll ask the dumb question, is that Porter or Drexler?

(Becuase it should be Drexler . . . but it looks like Porter.)

Edit: I got to say that I love the fact Memphis is getting blown out by Toronto with both Calderon and O'Neil out of action.

It was a Nike poster... Drexler wasn't Nike so it's Porter.

Watching the Celtics-Cavs game. ESPN ticker said Portland threatened to “sue any team that signed Miles." That's not really what happened... is it? We put other teams on notice that if we determine they act in bad faith if/when they sign Darius Miles, we will take any appropriate legal recourse available to us. Am I missing anything here?

Francis was traded to Memphis. They did not sign him. I have seen that mentioned to defend a position about 4 times in here. It's false.

I was just going to say that same comment. They traded for him because they got a 2nd round pick out of it in doing so. They never "signed" him

Media has a tendency to sometimes leave out or not emphasize properly enough certain facts that might make a story seem less interesting.

The bottom line is that the current standard is absurd. Jerry West could put on a uniform, limp onto the court for the last 10 seconds of 10 games, and meet the definition of "not medically disabled."

The issue isn't supposed to be if Miles can walk across the room without collapsing. It is supposed to be about whether he can play basketball at the NBA level.

Roy: I shouldn't have slept with her. Think I caught something. My dick is all red and itchy and there's pus coming out. Check it out guys.

LMA: Uh, I gotta go Brandon.
Oden: Yeah, I think I hear coach calling me!

To amplify a bit, he said that if a team signs Darius to a contract and he is a part of their roster for a good part of the rest of the season then the Blazers are fine with the ramifications to their cap space and luxury tax. They knew that risk going in. BUT, if they are of the opinion that some team is just out to sign Miles for a minimal time for the primary purpose of screwing up the Blazers' cap space, then they're going to do whatever is necessary to protect themselves.

I still can't figure out why they did not wait for this. Call me a pansy, but this was a bitch move. If you have solid evidence, hearsay, what have you that another team is contemplating signing him to have us pay the luxury tax fine. Regardless, you wait until after its happened to do something about it. This crippled any trading leverage we had, and every team will be hesistant to deal with us now (if they weren't already). Very, very stupid.

I think they did this because Boston and Memphis have eaten up 8 of the 10 games. So if a team is thinking "sweet, we can just sign him for 4 games, and then waive him and Portland will be stuck with the bill!", the Blazers are like "um, we're not against you guys signing Darius, but it better be for reasons other then screwing us over. "

That's all this is, and the "woah, thats a bitchy move by the Blazers" mindset seems to be missing that simple concept.
