Memphis lost to Toronto by 21 tonight 103 - 82.

Ever since Darius Miles played the last 1:46 of their 20-point blow-out win over Dallas, the Grizzlies have gotten progressively worse.

Since Miles' debut in a Memphis uniform, they have gone from a 20 point win over a 0.600+ team to losses by 7, 11 and 21 to three sub-0.500 teams.

Forget the law suit, we got karma on our side baby.

I hope Memphis loses every game for the rest of this season - and then gets screwed by the ping pong balls in the lottery and takes a player with their 4th pick that makes Kwame Brown and Darko Milicic look like good picks.

Memphis just isn't that great of a team.

Memphis is an NBADL franchise, and Mayo and Gay will flee them as soon as they can.

It's sad, but the NBA needs to contract if Obama is correct on his economic address yesterday. I wonder if Heisley is grabbing all the money he can right now before he sells the team or declares bankruptcy.

No, but they looked pretty damn good against Dallas...

and then the curse of Darius took over.

Oh and I almost forgot, I hope Darius Miles' attitude and work ethic are contagious. That Rudy Gay, OJ Mayo and Marc Gasol all play well enough that their normally cheap ass owner over pays to keep them - and then they never play as good again and yell racial slurs at their coach.

    Lost in all this:

How does Miles and his agent (who, IMO, hold a TON of leverage right now), how do they accept a 10-day contract? Why don't they hold out and say "you want to screw the Blazers and get the lux tax payment? Gimme my pro-rated veteran's minimum."

Maybe Miles and his agent are as dumb as Wallace and Heisley.

    Yep.

As I posted in other threads, Miles just signed the worst possible contract available to him. Goodbye union grievance...

Good point. But I don't think Darius is that smart..

Memphis lost, Denver lost, even Boston lost. Least there's something to cheer about. Chris Wallace deserves what he gets.

Go Toronto. Of note "Bustnani" as some have called him. Has scored 21.7 in his last 6 games. Whooo.

Good for him, and good for the Raps. At least they aren't trying to steal money from Paul Allen.

    Up next for Memphis:
    Cleveland, Utah and Detroit.

11-29, here they come. They'll certainly get blown out by the Cavs and Darius will see time.
Utah, the same thing will happen, so Friday, Jan. 16 will probably be when Miles gets to 10.

Maybe he signed the best possible contract available to him, also... if it was the only one.

I don't think the union grievance will go anywhere now, but I fail to see how him re-signing with the Grizzlies was a bad move on his part.

Yeah, the Grizz is a tough team for him to go to from a Blazer perspective because a lot of the time they lose by a pretty good sized margin so he will get lots of burn.

Straight up though, I have no problem w/ what Memphis did. I don't think their intention was only to put money on Portland's cap.

I also think that it was a bad move by Portland to send out that email, but i don't think what they said was wrong, because all they were doing was warning teams against signing a player for no other reason than to impact portland.

agreed on both counts. I get why the Blazers did it, but I think ultimately the letter was a hollow gesture that does more to damage their brand than help it.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
If Portland has any evidence of "bad faith" (like a taped phone call or whatever) and the e-mail was simply a step in building their case (along the lines of defending one's copyright, for example, prior to the infringement) then I think the e-mail was a good idea. No idea to know that until it's apparent whether there actually will be a law suit and what happens in it.

If it was just posturing, which is possible, then I think it was a bad idea.
