I think he would be a good fit in New Jersey, especially with Yi out. Brad Miller actually has an effective midrange jumper - much better than Yi's, who finally cracked the 40% mark last night. But the main advantage Brad Miller gives the Nets is his passing game. Brad Miller might be the best passing big man in the league right now. In fact, he is in a virtual tie with Gasol for the best APG for a F/C. I think he's the type of player who can make everyone better. With his ability to shoot he will only create penetration opportunities and enhance the dribble-drive offense. He's also smart enough to recognize cutters and that should increase with him in the high post more. His contract expires in two years, so the Nets can still make a push for LeBron and all the other free agents in 2010. He also shouldn't take many minutes from Lopez, if any. I would, however, send Yi packing to Sacramento.
I'll take my chances on Anderson. Miller is very soft on defense and not worth the trade. He's a good player, just not good enough to acquire him aggressively and take his contract.
Who isn't soft on defense on this team though? I guess the toughest part would be matching his $12M contract, but he would be an asset on this team. What about Larry Hughes? He's available.
Dude, the Nets are piss poor right now. They might be homeless soon. They're not taking on $12m contracts.
Would Miller come off the bench? Cause he's not benching Yi or Brook. This could have worked last year, or the year before, when we still had VC-RJ-JK, but I don't see the point of it now, other than stunting the growth of our young'uns.
Miller would barely, if at all, help them win now. He will stunt the growth of our big men, and his contract sucks. Plus, he doesn't fit a need. He's basically Brook Lopez.. but much older, with more perimeter oriented and polished offensive game, and without the defensive ability or desire. We do NOT need another big man scorer. (I know, shocker from the previous 5 years) They need a perimeter oriented defender who can spot up and his the three (Shane Battier / Bruce Bowen) and a legitimate VETERAN defensive big man.. I'd love to get the Twin back. Frank would barely play him (no, he would not play 35mpg - Frank gave Collins' mins to Boone previously), and he could teach Yi and Brook how to play great positional D. Seriously, trade Sean + Simmons + Cash for Battier+fillers and Swift for Collins (ha ha).
