Looks to me like it is this reporter and Coach Scott. Joel plays physical but I never felt like he goes looking for trouble:

    "Cheap shots.

This season, numerous players have been involved with some extracurricular activities with Portland center Joel Przybilla. Nuggets center Andersen, for instance, had a couple of fierce battles with him in the Nuggets-Blazers back-to-back games a couple of weeks ago. And Hornets center Tyson Chandler was ejected and suspended for retaliating against the big man.

"Joel Przybilla's one of those guys — that's what he does," Hornets coach Byron Scott said. "He's a guy that's always trying to start something, always grabbing, holding, getting those little digs in when the referees aren't looking. He's one of the dirtiest guys in the league."

Wow... Joel is tough and won't back down, but he is not dirty.

Maybe he's 'dirty'. I'm ok with that, we need to have someone who's a little bit of an ass. Also, I wonder if it's also that he just doesn't back down from people trying to intimidate him?

I've never thought of Pryz as a dirty player, but I'm not surprised that he has a reputation around the league. I don't see him jump kicking people in the face like Bowen.

I don't think Pryz is a dirty player, but I may be a little biased. He likes to bang and can hold sometimes. I don't think he does anything dirty, but he doesn't back down. I would be interested in what fans of other teams think.

Good! I am glad we have one player who gets physical out there.

And, whatever, Joel plays hard... dirty is a stretch, though. I have never seen him do something I would call a "cheap shot", but he definitely pushes, holds, and fights as hard as any NBA player for position. I love Przys game.

Byron Scott saying Joel likes to start stuff is laughable. I think he needs to look at the last Por/No game again... Chandler got in 2 cheap shots on Joel in that one.

Joel isn't a dirty player whatsoever. That is ridiculous. He's tough. He doesn't back down. That's all. I'm surprised Scott used the term "dirty" to describe Joel.

It doesn't surprise me. Byron Scott is that type of person. He has become very smug, arrogant, and whiny. And since a coaches persona often take on the character of his team.....so are many of his players.

People seemed to like Byron Scott's evaluations when he talked about Roy. Tribalism FTW. "Don't dare say anything negative about our players. But Garnett is a bitch."

This is a joke. Joel is not "dirty." Just look at the quote to see how biased the writer is: "Hornets center Tyson Chandler was ejected and suspended for retaliating against the big man." What? Chandler didn't "retaliate" - he chopped Joel across his broken wrist, Joel gave him a slight shove, and Chandler clobbered him. Joel plays tough, staight-up defense. Some players try to push him around and think they can bully him and cheap shot him, and he let's them know their cheap shit won't be tolerated. What a joke.

I don't think Joel is dirty either. But he is the one guy on our team that seems to get into a ton of skirmishes with other teams. Joel just isn't a pushover, and usually the stuff he gets into are against other team's bullies who are used to pushing people around. Without him, we'd be a bunch of weaklings.

Chandler is an fukkin' crybaby. I loved it when he got ejected at the 2007 home opener. I've never seen anyone bitch like he did when he was getting all the calls in that game - and yes, that includes Sheed.

This is just reverse psychology by Byron Scott. His big man is a punk ass bitch, but he's trying to redirect the blame onto Joel, who is in no way a dirty player. This is simply a case of blaming the victim. Chandler started this incident with a cheap shot on Joel's injured wrist. The suspension was deserved. The NBA got it right.

Yeah, I knew Scott had the rep. of a crybaby and a whiner, but wow. If he was asked about Chandler he better say the same thing, since he was the one who initiated it.

Tyson Chandler is one of the dirtiest players in the league. Far dirtier than anyone on the Blazers' roster. I see players complain about calls, but Chandler complains about every call, and he always looks like he's on the verge of exploding or crying.

I rarely can tell if a player is "dirty" or not, but Joel is involved in as many little scraps and pushing and shouting matches as almost any player in the NBA. I would not be at all surprised if he had little "tricks" that could be considered dirty.

Scott was a sissy as a player and he's not a very good coach.

He needs to look in the mirror if his team is getting "manhandled".

Really spot on with that assessment. I was wondering why New Orleans always seems entitled in any game they play.

i hadn't noticed but if he has the rep i wouldn't question it since coaches and especially players are seeing all of this at an intimate proximity. not a bad quality to have.
