Oh, never mind. I thought it was a real article, not the local gossip column. Yeah, from our own local media. The more things change, the more they stay the same. I wonder how much longer Paul Allen is going to keep a guy on the payroll that publicly attacks his higher ranking co-workers. BNM
I'm implying that he has a history of embellishing, misconstruing or just flat out getting facts wrong.
I'd bet money that Canzano made that quote up. It sounds EXACTLY like Canzano. I don't think KP is the kind of person to rub his trades in, you know, since he's smart enough to realize he wouldn't be able to make trades if he did so. And would a GM really make such incendiary remarks about another GM to the beat writer of that team? Something doesn't fit Canzano.
That is so obviously fabricated by Canzano. I doubt any GM's in the NBA have heard the term Pritchslapped and even if they had they would instantly brush it off like they do with 100% of what the fans come up with.
To answer the initial question. Yes, I do think Kevin Pritchard should feel pressure; this team needs something positive to take away all this attention. If a trade isn't made people will loudly and continuously question if it wasn't because of the email. The email will also be brought into question if a trade is made and it doesn't live up to fans expectations. Pritchard needs to publicly regain control of the franchise and bring something positive to this team. The team is playing pretty damn good, but people are going to be talking about that email for a long time if something isn't done.
You need to consider the source. Also from that article: "And that the three drafts Pritchard handled for Portland he was given the resources to land five lottery picks." Either Canzano can't count our he's too stupid and lazy to check his facts. The Blazers have gotten four players selected in the lottery in the last three drafts: Aldridge and Roy in 2006, Oden in 2007 and Bayless in 2008. Who is this phantom 5th lottery pick? You see, if a so-called "journalist" can't even get simple, easily verified facts correct in his articles, then I automatically call into question everything he writes. There is ONE major league sports team in this town. Anyone who has been writing a sports column for the local paper for the past several years should be able to recite from memory every draft pick the team has made while he's been here. Hell, most casual fans can tell you who the Blazers have picked in the last three drafts, but a guy who gets paid to write about the team, and gets paid BY THE TEAM to host a sports radio show can't? Well shit. At the very least he could have spent 30 seconds at nba.com looking it up. I refuse to believe ANYTHING John Canzano writes citing anonymous sources. If he can't get well known, easily verifiable facts right, why should I believe him when uses completely unverifiable "sources" to support his arguments. He can make up whatever he wants and claim it happened exactly as he says it did. Given the way he plays loose with facts, I call bullshit and unless he cites a source, he can't prove otherwise. BNM
I guess it's anyone's right to disbelieve what Canzano says . . . but taken into the context of the email, I don't have a problem believeing this would be GMs reactions. Some of us were calling it as soon as the email became public. After that one GM came out publically about how much they were insulted by the email. PA blasted the Blazers. ESPN reported a western conference GM pissed about the email and other comments around the league about the email (almost all negative). So yeah, Canzano's article can be disregrded because it is Canzano . . . but I think he is somehow turning into the scapegoat of a lot of frustrated fans.
I think Canzano is just trying to make up a story that matches the NBA's reaction as you described above. While I certainly think the rest of the NBA looks negatively on the Blazers because of this, the Canzano story just feels made up. To me the guy is just real easy to read (not his articles though), especially on the radio you can just see what he's trying to do every time.

he continues to be a moron in the view of a lot of frustrated fans who'd rather have some more insight into their favorite team rather then just overt rumor mongering. Ever hear of the story of the boy who cried wolf? STOMP
