I know it's a little early, but I'll propose some moves Boston should make in the summer to make this team more complete:First off, we need to get a quick, playmaking PG. Speedy Claxton will be a FA this summer, so i think we should definitely go for him. If we give him enough money, he might come. We don't want to give him too much tho. Speedy would be a great fit. He's quick, he can push it, and he plays aggressive defense. And he can shoot. With Speedy here, Orien wouldn't have to handle the ball as mmuch, leaving him more comfortable as well. Then Orien could focus more on defense. If nothing else, it gives a playmaker to run the offense, especially when Paul is out. We know that Wally can't really create for himself, so a playmaker in the line-up would benefit him. Plan B:Mike James. He is also expiring, only i wouldn't think he would have any intension of re-signing, so we could get him for cheaper. We also need some perimeter defense. The obvious candidates for this are relatively untouchable, atleast for what we are willing to offer (i.e. Ron Artest, Bruce Bowen, Tayshaun Prince). But it is quite apparent that we need some explosiveness on the wings. Tony Allen is too inconsistent, and i'm not sure if he can stay healthy. It took him a long time to recover from knee surgery, and he's still not 100%. A player that would perfectly fit this bill is Gerald Wallace. We can offer Dan Dickau, Tony Allen, Dwayne Jones and a future first round pick (even this year's lottery if needed). I don't know if Charlotte would bite, but i think it's definitely worth a shot. Plan B:Ronnie Brewer. Just hope and pray that he falls into our laps. He could be VERY good.Another necessity is depth in the post. If we tanked the season, we could try to get LaMarcus Aldridge, but that's clearly not in the agenda w/ Paul around. I think our best option might be a S&T w/ Memphis for Lorenzen Wright. We give them a scrub (Scabs, Jones, etc.) and a pick for Wright. He's a great shotblocker/post defender, and he's decent offensively. The only reason i'm not proposing just signing him is bc we might not have enough cap space to sign him for nothing. (Also, i would want to get rid of Scabs ). Plan B: Sign Antonio Davis as a FA.Well, as you can see, I don't think this team needs any star players. We have a nice core, and we just need to build on that w/ depth and defense. We just need a few more pieces to complete the puzzle, assuming Al, Perk, and Delonte pan out as expected.

Ronnie Brewer is not effective without the ball and is limited on offense because he can't shoot, your better off drafting Rodney Carney who will go higher in the draft. But no way would Charlotte trade Gerald Wallace for a few parts and a first rounder...the chances Charlotte would get a better player with the first round pick is very low. Gerald Wallace is a monster. But I do agree with Craig Claxton, he would be a great fit.
The reason i picked Brewer instead of Carney is bc Brewer has pg skills, and he is great on defense. I like Carney's game, but we don't need all offense, and another player to go behind Pierce. And for the record, i didn't think Charlotte would bite. Just throwing it out there. I never said Wright would be the key to the franchise, i just said he would be a nice pickup bc he plays solid interior D, and he would add depth.
We deffinitly need to focus on defense this offseason. Are only note worthy defender is Delonte West, and as a team we really have talent on the defensive end. I haven't really looked over the free agent class, but some guys that could help us on the defensive end in this years draft are Shelden Williams, Mardy Collins, Taquan Dean, and Josh Boone. I would like to see us get Taquan Dean with our 2nd rounder, he could be a real nice addition to the team.We deffinitly need to focus on defense this offseason. I was thinking the same thing w/ Taquan Dean. He'd be a steal in the second rd.But i disagree that our only defender is Delonte. Tony Allen is pretty good (although the knee is holding him back), Orien Greene is good, and Perk is good. Defense should be a key motive in the offseason, but it shouldn't be the only thing we're after.
u want a steal in the 2nd round? Marcus Williams from Uconn. he's a great playmaker (best in the country imo), can get to the basket, hits some open jumpers, and he runs. i wouldnt mind seeing him as our backup point next year also, people say Dee Brown is gunna be a mid 2nd rounder. i think he will go mid to late 1st round
yeah, i saw a mock draft w/ him going in the 2nd round, but i think he's a first round pic. If he slips, hell yeah i'd take him, but i think he's worthy of mid-first round.
Dogmatist you got some good points, I would love to see Wallace/Claxton wearing Celtics uniforms...I just wish Danny would come out and say PAUL PIERCE WILL BE A CELTIC FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS so we can finally speculate on what they should really do with the team, everytime we make some trade ideas you have to factor in the "depending on if PP is still with us"
