This game from me and Rok's discussion on aim.Bruce bowen who's a great defender could do nothing against Tmac when they played last season. I'm talking about 13 in 35, bowen couldn't stop tmac going on a barrage. So the question is, Can anyone stop a superstar once he catches fire? edit: Not slowing down, completely stop that player making him a non-factor in the game.
nope he can't. nenad kristic, who isn't even that great was 11 for 11 last night against my pathetic no defense knicks.
Take a look at what happened last night, both Kobe and Lebron caught fire during the first half. Kobe had twetny five points, Lebron had twenty one. Then they just couldn't hit there shots in the second half. Kobe shot four for thirteen, while Lebron went zero for eight. So I would you have to say that yes, a player can be stopped once he gets hot.
If you put a All-Star, HOF, Vet defender on the shooter I think it is possible. I mean it wouldn't be a easy thing to do but it is deffinately possible.
I think it's possible, but unlikely. NBA players are normally big, and have unblockable shots. Therefore, once they get to a point where every shot is going in, all you can do is double or triple team them for that matter
I know when Eddie House gets hot he can shoot the worst shots and still get them in. It's awesome. They can be stopped though. I flagrant or hard foul that'll rattle them up a bit should take them out of it.
Tracy McGrady always gets on fire when he plays against us...no matter how many defenders we put on him. :no1:
For guards/SF: T-Mac, Kobe, Bron, and VC are unstoppable when they gets 3 or 4 shots down in a row. T-Mac shows it time and time again when he gets like 30 points in a half, Kobe showed it twice this year with 81 points and 62 in 3 quarters, Bron shows it with his 40/50 point games, and when VC get shot, he gets over 20 in 1 quarter. For PF/Centers: Amare, Shaq, Duncan. Once they get hot, their eyes open up and they wanna dunk and score on everyone.
Not to endorse this type of action, but sending in a sub that doesn't play much to injure the player would work.

'cause that'll really kill your team. you can see the kobes.. t-macs.. and the lebrons.. will -always- get their 30-40 point games or whatever if they're hot.. just let them have it. whatever you do just don't let them get their team involved, or you're really f'd.it works if you think about it.. the guy is having a great scoring night.. but his team is so piss'd because the guy won't pass the ball because he thinks he has the shot.. as long as your team plays lockdown d on the whole team then the other team will play half-<Censored> defense and it'll keep you in the game. hahahahaha
Melo, this was brought up in our convo on aim, and I told you Artest, great defender but overrated in his ability to shut down a star player. He's great, but defense is gotta be teamwork. Is Artest improving the d in Sac? I ain't seeing it. Brad Miller still is a bad post defender, and Bibby gets burned. But on topic, no, when a player is automatic, anything he throws up will go in. Can't stop that. Even if your Artest.
The answer is no. Look at the most recent example of Wade vs. Pistons. The Pistons are arguable the best defensive team, but they had no shot of stopping Wade on his 17 point run.Nothing can be done.
