"Let's make a deal With the trading deadline a little more than a month away, talks between teams seem to be heating up. An NBA source said a three-team trade is in the works that would include Oklahoma City sending guard Earl Watson to Charlotte, Dallas sending center DeSagana Diop to Charlotte, and Charlotte guard Raymond Felton going to Dallas. The source added that Milwaukee might be on the verge of a deal, too, as several teams have shown interest in ex-Connecticut star forward Charlie Villanueva and guard Ramon Sessions." I'd love to get both Ramon Sessions and Charlie V., but Memphis is said to be offering Mike Conley for Sessions and Joe Alexander. http://www.boston.com/sports/basket...on_thinks_you_should_believe_in_magic/?page=2
Charlie V is intriguing but he gets benched because of no D. I bet Nellie would give him the Zarko treatment even though Zarko IMO was pretty nice chemistry player. I wouldn't mind Ramon Sessions. If we wanted DeMarcus Nelson for defense, Sessions ought to be an upgrade and he's more of a real point guard.
Best possible Warrior trade for the next 3 years? Crawford opting out after this year. Talk about a gift from heaven. He's grumbling about it but it will never happen because no one is going to give him $10/yr, ever; well not unless Isiah is resurrected.
LOL. It could be Zarko-Foyle-Skita all rolled up into one when he's not on. I must've watched the Charlie V highlights reel versus the lowlights one. The guy looks awesome when he's on. It's too bad we gave up our #1 pick for Marcus Williams. If we had that, then we be may have been able to entice the Bucks and snag Sessions.
Well, there's a reason why he's being benched. He doesn't have a true position. He plays like a small forward, but he's tall like a power forward. He doesn't dribble as amazingly as Lamar Odom and his playmaking skills were a tad overrated. They probably went with ma boo boo or whatever the starting Bucks power forward's name is for a reason. He rebounds and plays more D! Defense is probably also the reason why Ramon Sessions was thought of as a starter. But yeah Charlie V doesn't seem to start because he's got similar weaknesses like Yi, (doesn't rebound, isn't consistent). I can see why luc mbah a moute goes ahead of him.
I'd throw some offers at Utah to try and land Boozer. Boozer is going to opt out of his contract after this season and Utah is apparently not interested in signing him to a gigantic deal. Add to that the fact that Paul Millsap has been a beast for them while Boozer has been out and its even less likely the Jazz hold onto him. I'm not sure if Boozer would be unrestricted ro if we could match or have some type of rights but if we would get them I'd go after Booz. Before I said Mags/Wright/Belinelli but that one would be tough to swallow given how well Beli's been playing lately. A deal would have to include one of Jack/Craw/Mags plus some combination of prospects/picks. I really don't see Sloan wanting Crawford but Mags is more his type of player but they've got to consider the contract. Obviously Jack is the most coveted of the group but he might have the worst contract at this point and the W's probably want to hold onto him despite the crappy contract. I can see the Jazz wanting Turiaf as well despite many considering his contract to be bloated. The price to land Boozer might even be lower than expected with his injury problems coming up again lately and teams knowing hes just a half-year rental. A team with a core of Monta, Jack, Boozer, Biedrins, one of Craw/Mags (depending on who is traded to get Boozer), plus Randolph, Azu, perhaps Turiaf if hes not in the deal, etc. looks pretty solid on paper. A lot of big, long term contracts though if/when we re-sign Boozer. Another option that I would think possible is Tracy McGrady. At this point in his career I wouldn't be too enamored with acquiring him but it sounds like Houston is getting tired of him and I've read that many think they're better when he doesn't play and the offense is oriented around Yao. Hes well past his prime but would you do a deal where you package two of our big-money wing players for him? Craw/Mags for T-Mac? Jack/Craw for T-Mac? Jack/Mags for T-Mac? T-Mac's contract is about 22 mils a year for this year and next then expires in 2010. We dump at least one of Mags or Jacks' huge deals in addition to Crawford for a shorter term contract and a guy who even while hes declining will produce more. Then we'd have Monta, T-Mac, Biedrins, the big money wing player we didn't trade to get him (preferably Jack I suppose? Maybe he wouldn't be a good fit next to T-Mac though), plus Turiaf, Wright, Randolph, Beli, etc. And we get big time cap relief in 2010. Houston gets two productive wing players to help them since they're in win-now mode.
Is Don Nelson that obvious? Nelly would play 5-guard ball if he could, nevermind our rebounding totals and the fact we can't convert when the other team crowds the paint.
Something must happen when coaches come to Golden State. I remember Mike Montgomery played Ike at center against Shaq.
Better than "no-hands" playing center IMO. Biedrins should have been the starting center with Ike at PF. Ike's tendency to try and block everything made him better at a "Turiaf" or "Wright" role while Biedrins scooped up the boards. That would still leave us really shallow at center and power forward, though... I think at this point we were really going nowhere with Dunleavy occupying the wing and the lack of a 6'5" prototype shooting guard.
I'd hate to do this trade, but if we really wanted to dump a lot of contracts it'd be something like Turiaf, Jackson, Maggette for the expiring contract of Tracy McGrady. The problem is I want to keep Turiaf and Sjax. If there's no good veterans on this team I feel like this franchise will self destruct even more. As probably discussed before we could also do the dump using the same players with Toronto and Jermaine O'neal. It also works with Dallas and Jason Kidd.
EDIT: Another Possible Trade for Warriors = Josh Howard I doubt Dallas would dump Jason Kidd at this point. They're shopping Josh Howard instead who doesn't seem like a good fit with Kidd. Howard would be a good fit with Nellie I think. Mags and Marcus Williams works for Howard. The plus is Howard's humongous contract is up in 2009 and has a team option for 2010. Maybe we could squeeze a conditional # 1 out of Dallas if they want to right their ship fast enough.
Nets were trying to trade Sean Williams and Bobby Simmons to the Bulls for Larry Hughes, but Chicago would rather have Simmons and Maurice Ager (expiring). So the Nets are still trying to move Sean Williams. Does anyone want Sean Williams? Weren't the Warriors trying to get Sean Williams earlier this year?
Ok, here are some better possibilities. How about David Lee or Kirk Hinrich? It's too bad the Warriors extended SJax because he would have been valuable.: Chicago Bulls: Bulls GM John Paxson is under pressure to change the team’s failed chemistry and everyone short of Derrick Rose and Luol Deng appears to be on the block. The Bulls have talked to multiple teams about moving Larry Hughes and his contract (more than $26 million over this season and next), but have found little they’ve liked in return. The Bulls do have young players who intrigue teams, including Ben Gordon, Joakim Noah and Tyrus Thomas. Perhaps the most tradable player is guard Kirk Hinrich. Dallas Mavericks: The Mavericks are clearly willing to trade Josh Howard, the enigmatic forward, before he does something else to lower his value. Because there is a team option on the final season of his contract in 2010-2011, his deal is especially attractive to franchises looking to clear cap space for the summer of 2010. The Mavericks have shown interest in Sacramento’s Brad Miller and Miami’s Marion. New York Knicks: The Knicks have sent out signals to rival executives that they’re willing to move forward David Lee, who will command a rich extension this summer. Malik Rose’s expiring contract ($7.6 million) has value, too. Sacramento Kings: Brad Miller, the 7-footer, is an attractive target for Western Conference teams searching for the size to overtake the Los Angeles Lakers. The Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs have interest, but don’t have the combination of young players and expiring contracts that the Kings want, league executives say. Guard John Salmons could move before the deadline, too. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_y...YF?slug=aw-tradegms012109&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
I wouldn't want Lee if he is going to command legit starter money. I think his best role is as a role player, not a star and should not be paid like a top 3 guy.
Not to mention he'd morph into a 3 point shooter under Nellie and lose all value he brings to the court. I think the Warriors should see what they actually have with Monta back and the roster relatively healthy again. There's a lot of redunancy on the team and they would benefit greatly from a defensive stopper like a Shane Battier type. I wouldn't be surprised if Houston made him available with the season they're having.
