How do they rebound from that debacle Saturday night? So far they've come out with a lot of intensity.
BG on Roy again, and they immediately go after him. Noc bails out BG with a block, then bails out Hughes on Roy.
Went to the game tonight. The problem was quite clear. Rose was half assing it on defense, not chasing Blake around. Luol Deng was half assing it on defense, not chasing Outlaw around. Nocioni expounded a lot of energy on defense, but he just randomly doubles, and leaves his guy wide open. You could see the wide open Portland threes developing from a mile away. Both Hinrich/Gordon did a good job on Roy. Both brought lots of energy defensively, Gordon probably is bringing more energy tonight to avoid losing his starting spot. Kirk I thought did a bit better of a job. He seemed to be at that All NBA level again, which is good. He will make a great 6th man if we decide to keep him. Even though Hinrich only had 4 points and 3 assists, I still love him out there a lot more than seeing Hunter and Hughes.
BG did look more interested on defense, but for all of his effort, Roy still had his way with him and got two quick fouls on BG and another one later. BG was and continues to be overmatched. Hinrich looked a lot more effective, but he needs to stay at that level for a change to be worthwhile. But if he can maintain that intensity then you have to make the switch and bring BG off of the bench. Thabo looked very good too to start the game and he needs to at the very least keep his minutes. Hughes needs to start selling insurance or something. And Noc on Outlaw for that long?
Roy shot 3-13 with 3 FTA and 3 assists and scored half his season average. That's having his way, no doubt!
Hinrich should replace Rose in the starting lineup, not Gordon, if you want to start Hinrich. Rose isn't warranting a starting spot, and maybe a benching would light a fire under his ass. Then again, Hinrich's 4 points and 3 assists doesn't really warrant him starting over anyone. Maybe at small forward
I would actually agree with you if Rose wasn't clearly the future of the franchise. Rose's scoring is way ahead of his ability to get his teammates easy buckets. Unfortunately, he warrants on the job training.
Would you guys say that Rose is on par with Chris Paul as a passer? I didn't really see it last night, but he's far and away better than anyone on the Blazers in passing.
He's isn't close to CP yet. And the blazers did a great job of moving the ball when the bulls started double teaming whoever posted up. As long as a team moves the ball and can make open shots, you don't need a guy who can break the other team down off of the dribble. That's what the bulls did two years ago.
Yeah, but the Blazers are terrible at finding Oden or Aldridge when they're open under the basket. They can't make an entry pass to save their lives. You just saw an anomaly last night. Most games Oden is wide open, but the guards freeze him out. It's really frustrating. If we had a guy like Chris Paul, Oden would score 8-10 more points a game.
