Love him when he's on, hate him when he's not. That's the story of Travis.

He did display some discipline in his shot selection tonight. Travis shot a great percentage overall, going 9 out of 14 from the floor. Moreover, he got to the FT line myriad times, so that was a terrific sign that he's not settling for just jumpers.

    Go get 'em, Travis!

If Outlaw attacked the hoop and only shot jumpers/three-pointers when defenses played off him, his scoring ability would take a big step forward.

If he can actually become a play-maker for others regularly, off the attention he draws, he could be a star player. But that's a tough thing to just start doing. It's great that Outlaw is thinking in that direction, though.

Defiantly??? Thats the writer's gaff right?

Well, good quotes from Travis who is keeping it real with the Mississippi dialect. It's always good to hear players talk about team goals.

Re: Travis knows "you" hate him

I wish I could've seen the game...I'd have loved to see Travis in one of his "on" games.

The quote from the article gave me some hope, too. I'd be really happy if he bought into things like rebounding, passing and not shooting over double teams from having someone tell him what we say online. I'm taking credit for this one. Travis didn't get any motivation or think about changing his game listening to slurpers on the Fan Club Thread...

What is the difference between Travis's good games (like tonight, or HOU) and his 7pt, 0 reb 1 asst games? He can get to the rim almost anytime he wants to, he has green light to shoot, and can jump over just about everyone. How does he have more games with 2 reb or less (13) than 5 or more (8)? IMO, it's about effort and having his head in the game. If he did that even 75% of the time, I for one would feel a lot differently. Hope the article displayed a course change in Travis's career.

Re: Travis knows "you" hate him

Probably something to do with confidence -- be that in his ability, his shot, or maybe most importantly in his role; I think it's worth noting that Travis has been playing a lot more power forward lately (I think I can safely say at this point Travis as a straight 3 is probably over) and he's clearly more comfortable in that position.

Part of what may hold Travis back is not wanting to step on the toes of guys who he considers "above" him in the shooting hiearchy, and Travis' quote post game that Brandon and LMA had to tell him to get it going suggests that he's not sure how aggressive to be with his own shot when he's probably the 3rd option at best.

I hope Travis keeps playing the 4, he's more effective defensively and offensively than Channing, and if he really does discipline himself into taking better shots and driving (he's actually been getting better driving with his left as the season has worn on) and getting to the foul line (rebounds with his hops and length would be peachy too) then I personally wouldn't object to keeping him around as that instant offense, bench scorer role he seems to relish so much.

Wow, isn't this a bit of a over kill in merging? I had seen a Travis thread I wanted to read after I read a different thread, but when I went back it was gone. I had to dig through this to find it. I almost gave up thinking it wasn't in it because the thread just disappeared without a move msg.

That was the thread I was looking for. I don't know how that thread belongs in a Travis fan club thread.

Indeed. If he can display some consistency, he would make the decision between himself and Webster a lot more difficult in my mind. I'm not saying I need him to score 33 every night, but just smart decisions, and fewer massive mental lapses (not saying he had big ones tonight ftr).

I may never had seen the article if you had posted it originally in this thread. I figured this was just a fan club thread.

this is classic TO, he is the ultimate no, No, NO, YES! player. when he's on it's deadly, when he's not into the game mentally he's as frustrating as they get. i've never been a big Outlaw fan but man i don't hate him. just wish his game was a little more consistent. it will be interesting when martell gets back, that is if one of them isn't traded before that.

That is really, really sad (not a bad sad, but meloncholy sad) about Travis thinking Portland hates him. Its not like that... A lot of people simply don't like the way he plays (inconsistant, mistakes, shot selection, etc...) but its really a love/hate relationship.

We all love Travis as the person. But every player has parts of his game people dislike.

I think Travis gets a lot of criticism because he is such a big part of the team, that when he doesn't play well (and is inconsistant) its amplified because his important role on the team, and the fact that we need him to play well.

Travis did an outstanding job tonight of raising his trade value.

He really played a hell of a game offensively. I only saw him take 2-3 shots where I cringed. he also crashed the boards well tonight.

35 minutes and 0 assists is pretty par for the course though. Great job Travis

Wow... there's just too many TO merged threads here, it's confusing.

Anyway... I don't think anyone hates Travis as a person. That's pretty much impossible. We just know what the guy is capable of, and when he stinks it up with one of his clunker games, then it's disappointing.
Consistency is the big thing now with Travis. The guy has proven he could be a big-time scorer off the bench, and though I'm not asking for 30 points per game out of him, it'd be nice to know he can be that reliable guy who will get us 12-16 points every night.

I've been frustrated a bit with Outlaw sometimes, but I don't think anyone hates him.

If outlaw could do that every time his number is called, then there would be no need for the Outlaw threads on here....

Consistency is what we need/crave from Trout!

I would like to point out that I am sure blue doesn;t mean score 33 every game either.

If Travis brings the rebounding and plays on the smarter end of his scale like he did last night there would be no need to talk about him in any way but how good he is
