http://www.nba.com/bulls/news/smith_090112.html?rss=true The other possibility I've heard speculated regarding the Trailblazers, though I don't see it myself, is a multi-team deal with Tracy McGrady going there and Hinrich ending up in Houston. If McGrady could improve from his knee issues it could be a heck of a veteran addition for a young team on the brink. And it's seemed more and more lately that McGrady's lineup uncertainty is baffling the Rockets. You've got to say, in any case, Portland is an interesting franchise
Re: Tmac to PDX? A me-first player with a questionable work-ethic and a history of injury issues. Yeah - that fits right in with everything McMillan and Pritchard have been building this team around. -Pop
Re: Tmac to PDX? McGrady isn't me-first. He's one of the most unselfish volume scorers. He was often accused of being "passive," because he spent large chunks of the game passing the ball to teammates rather than taking shots. He's been a terrific passer and play-maker for others through his career. But I wouldn't trade for him. At this point, injuries have totally derailed his career. At his peak, he was a top-five player but now he's nowhere close to that form. In addition, he misses far too much time. I don't think he has much left at this point, so I'd rather spent whatever trade chips the team has for a player who will be valuable for a reasonably long period of time.
Re: Tmac to PDX? exactly how I feel about it, and great analysis on him not being a me-first player. He isn't, at all.
Re: Tmac to PDX? The guy has just been injury prone for the last few years. His back is totaled. I would have loved to see him in a Blazers uniform in 2001 though.
Re: Tmac to PDX? Yeah - nothing me-first at all about demanding out of Toronto so he wouldn't have to share touches with his cousin. -Pop
Re: Tmac to PDX? I would have loved him in 2001 too, his knees are also shot. Not worth a look anymore. Shane Battier on the other hand...
Re: Tmac to PDX? To a team that also was signing Grant Hill in his prime before injuries. It wasn't to "be the man on his own team."
Re: Tmac to PDX? If I recall, Toronto offered him more and he bolted because he didn't want to share touches with VC. -Pop
Re: Tmac to PDX? Even assuming you recall correctly (and I don't know if you do)... who cares? That was almost nine years ago. He was 20 or 21. Should you really let something like that determine your opinion of a player? Ed O.
Re: Tmac to PDX? I kinda remember hearing that too pop, but TMAC is from Florida, and he had a chance to go play at home with Grant Hill for a big contract. I think that had more to do with it than anything.
Re: Tmac to PDX? This is very easy. Go to his stat page, and look at his assist, and then tell me again that he is a selfish player. If he is a selfish player, Brandon Roy is too.
