He and I have got a good debate going on in another thread about why or why not Dirk should be MVP. He's a hater... j/k I think by "soft" he means that they don't really play a physical style of basketball, and really he's right. Dirk is very much a finesse player, as pretty much all Euro's except for Kirilenko. But as I stated before, that doesn't make someone "soft" in the true sense of the word. Dirk sure as hell isn't weak, or afraid of pain. I've seen the dude get his tooth knocked out and catch it in his hand before it hit the ground, and still continue playing.
Re: Darko gets playing time!!! Wow, congrats to Darko. He's putting up some good numbers once he finally gets a chance. That must be his career high in minutes as well, lol. Maybe he will even start down the road for th Magic. I hope he makes the Pistons look bad for not giving him a chance. The guy is great shot-blocker as seen in Euro leagues. Also a decent rebounder and he can nail the out-side shot and he is pretty good on put-backs.

Euro's tend to all play a finesse-game because that's just the way their taught over there; it's much less physical and much more about pure fundamentals the way they play. Shooting is especially paramount because the defensive schemes don't really allow players to have much of a post game. That's also the reason most Euros aren't very good one-on-one defenders, because it's almost all zone-defense. Also, the lane is more narrow, which makes it more difficult to drive. They're not physically weak, or low on pain tolerance. They're just taught differently. AK47 is one exception. He sure as hell ain't "soft," although he might be a little injury prone. As for Darko, I honestly believe the Pistons down the road will lament the day they traded Darko. Practically the entire basketball world thought he would be a star when he was 17. I seriously doubt viturally every scout, and GM involved in that year's was just plain wrong about him. He just wasn't NBA-ready, plus I think playing for a jerkoff like Larry Brown really hurt his confidence. I think he'll be at least as good as Bosh someday. I mean, c'mon, he's only 20.</div>Not just Euro's. Yao Ming, lol.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (mavsfan1000 @ Feb 26 2006, 01:32 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>You must be a Dirk hater also. lol</div>I guess. Re: Darko gets playing time!!! 8 points in 22 minutes isn't that impressive, guys...most of it was in garbage time.Plus, you'd expect more from a #2 pick. According to him, he's already capable of starting...yet I don't see it happening.

If he fails to reach that, even 99 pts, is a failure to BCB. Ok with that, I don't understand what Hill is doing. He DNPed Darko the other game, and here, doesn't get a whole lot of minutes. The guy should be playing at least 30-35. What was the point of the trade if their gonna play him like the Pistons did.I think you mean Wade over Amare.</div>You cant just throw Darko out there tho, you have to give him time, relax him into the lineup, and in a few weeks he should be seeing more time. Otherwise he will end up like Alex Smith of the NFL, lol.
Re: Darko gets playing time!!! Darko is far from a starter imo though he is still young. They might try to give him the job before he is ready since he is on a poor team. Luckily he has Howard in the front court to help him out a lot when it does happen.
Re: Darko gets playing time!!! Magic arent' doing anything this year, and with only Battie in front of him. I see no reason why he shouldn't play more then he is.

Just like Darko, he would have been stuck behind Detroit's deep front court, and would have never had a chance to prove himself to Larry.

Re: Darko gets playing time!!! yeah and he got into foul trouble. He got 4 through the 3rd. Don't know if he had more than that. And BCB, your in luck because I'm guessing Darko will explode and get 16 one game this year.

Darko was 17 years old, with very little experience. He was just a kid loaded with a potential. LeBron, Melo, Wade, and Bosh were all drafted by horrible teams that were looking for them to be their franchise players. They were all starters and no 1 scoring options, allowed to make rookie mistakes and learn the game. Darko had the bad luck of being drafted by a team that was the no. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference the previous year and went on to win the championship that year, as well as the fact that that team had an arrogant, stubborn, impatient coach that notoriously hates rookies.Darko needed to play for a bad team to learn the game. Nowitzki was the exact same way; very unimpressive rookie season. But fortunately for him, he played for a bad team and for a coach that saw the greatness in him and was willing to cut him some rookie slack.
Re: Darko gets playing time!!! I see the potential in Darko. He is pretty quick for a big man and once he gets more comfortable out there on the court his game should improve big time. Detroit made a big mistake in trading Darko I feel. I thought they could've gotten a lot more than Cato because of Darko's potential. Maybe they should've traded the pick to a young team for a player that was ready to contribute now.
