<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Colangelo Decision Expected This Weekend25th February, 2006 - 12:05 pmThe Globe and Mail - The NBA's reigning executive of the year is expected to decide in the next day or so whether he will become the new president and general manager of the Toronto Raptors , and no one will be watching more closely than head coach Sam Mitchell.Bryan Colangelo, the current president and GM of the Phoenix Suns , declined to discuss the Toronto job when contacted at his office yesterday."I hope you appreciate the situation, but I'm not in a position to discuss anything," Colangelo said, neither confirming nor denying that he's had talks with the Raptors. "It's a particularly sensitive area right now."According to a Phoenix source, Colangelo is expected to decide by the end of this weekend whether to pursue the Raptors' position or remain with the Suns. [READ]</div> Ok, why and the hell would you leave one of the leagues up and coming teams with the leagues best bigman since KG? To go to the Raptors of all places? Why? Colengelo looks like a hip and happenin guy and Phoenix is a booming city, why move to Canada?
I posted this in the Suns forum, but it's because he is having problems with that dipshit owner Sarver. I love Colangelo and hope he doesen't leave the team. The Colangelo family has been great for Arizona sports. Sarver almost made us lose our AFL team and now this. BC will get more money from Toronto probably and they are also a good young team.
I hope he goes to the Raptors and cleans BacCOCK's mess.Colangelo will trade Nash for Eric Williams right before he goes(if) to Toronto I wish.
He wants to start his own dynasty?Wait, no that doesnt make any sense, as hes made his own dynasty in Phoenix.I dunno
I'm guessing he sees all the young talent are team has and he wants to help rebuild another franchise. He rebuilt the SUns and did a great job of doing that, his mission for the team is completed, now it's time for him to move on. The NBA's a business.

Blender he's basically questioning why you called the Suns a Dynasty. They've won nothing, how can they be called a Dynasty? A Dynasty occurs when a team wins 3 championships or more in consecutive years. How many have the Suns won? On this situation, is it that big of a deal. He's going to get more money with Raps who are desperate for a gm. Colangelo is perfect timing with his issues with Sarver.
This is probably the weirdest GM moval of all time, a guy takes a team with really not much going for it (remember when it was Penny, Gugliota, McDyess) and has a top coach, top talent and everyone gets better in Phoenix. So why leave that and go to Toronto who gets good players (Carter, McGrady, Camby, Stoudamire) but trades them away or lets them leave before their prime. WHY would someone do this??
At the beginning of the year, I thought these guys were doomed. A few trades later, a new Gm signing, and suddenly this is a team to look forward to
It's kinda like when a team in the NFL wins the super bowl. Most of the time the defensive cordinator or offensive cordinator will be offered a head coaching job because of the good work they did. These two arent 100% the same but there simular. That's my take on it. I think this guy coming to Tornoto would be cool cause he might just be able to shape things up.

Colangelo runs the show in Phoenix as he was the GM. I see no similarity.
He's supposed to make his decision today. If yall find something post it please.<Censored>.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Bryan Colangelo severed a lifelong relationship with the Phoenix Suns on Monday to accept the Toronto Raptors? overtures to become their president and general manager.Colangelo ended a monthlong saga that put Colangelo and second-year Suns Managing Partner Robert Sarver further at odds. It also brings doubt to the status of Suns Chief Executive Officer and Chairman Jerry Colangelo, a father to Bryan and the franchise. He helped start the expansion team 38 years ago.Sarver said he expected Jerry Colangelo to remain with the organization but has not talked to him since Bryan?s resignation. He said Bryan told him he was taking the Toronto job late Sunday.?We?re friends,? Sarver said of his relationship with Bryan. ?This was not about how we got along.?I am disappointed that he is going to Toronto. I did make a commitment to him over a year ago that if another opportunity came up, I wasn?t going to stand in his way?At the end of the day, a big part of it boiled down to redoing his current contract.?Sarver said he was willing to talk about an extension with Colangelo but was "philosophically opposed? to tearing up his current contract, which runs through the 2006-07 season, ?because that?s not how I?ve done business.?He said there would not be an interim general manager, citing a quality staff of people that will help absorb the responsibiities. He has no timetable for a GM replacement but said he would look inside the organization.?We?ve got a lot of good people in the organization that will assume additional duties,? Sarver said. ?I?m confident we?ll find a good leader.?Suns investor and consultant Steve Kerr said Monday that he has no interest in taking the job, as has been rumored since he joined Sarver for the purchase process.?I?m happy with the role with Robert as adviser and investor and with TNT,? said Kerr, a TNT commentator. ?It?s just not the time in my life I?d want to do something like this. I do plan on remaining with Robert.?Kerr supported the way Sarver handled the Colangelo situation, saying that Sarver saved the franchise from financial struggles and that a precedent with this case had to be set for financial stability.?You can?t just throw money at people,? Kerr said. ?That?s not only disturbing but it goes away from the blueprint.?Jerry Colangelo?s CEO and chairman roles were to stay intact until the sale of the franchise to Sarver?s group was completed in June 2007, after which he would remain on board at least another five years as chairman. That now appears doubtful, although he also partnered with Sarver on outside business, including a hotel to be constructed alongside US Airways Center. When Colangelo chose Sarver over another bidder to buy the Suns in 2004, Bryan Colangelo became a minority investor in the team. He must give up that share of the Suns to work in Toronto.Bryan Colangelo, 40, was recruited by Toronto with promises of more authority than he has with Sarver and a better contract, one that would more than triple his salary (to more than $3 million a year) and give him long-term security (four or five years). The Raptors fired Phoenix native Rob Babcock as general manager in January and replaced him on an interim basis with Wayne Embry, one of Jerry Colangelo?s best, longtime friends in the league.Bryan Colangelo, who is a candidate to become the second person to repeat as The Sporting News? NBA Executive of the Year, has been general manager of the Suns for 11 years. It is a position his father held before him, starting with the franchise?s 1968 inception.Sarver said Colangelo?s talks with Toronto did not affect how well the club was run around the trade deadline or amid recent injuries. The Suns do have personnel issues that may need attention. Phoenix is down to nine healthy bodies for tonight?s game in Houston.Kurt Thomas likely will miss at least the rest of the regular season with a stress reaction in his foot. Amare Stoudemire and Brian Grant are rehabilitating knee injuries. It appears Stoudemire?s return would be in late March while Grant could be mid-March.Nikoloz Tskitishvili (ankle sprain, out for two weeks) and Dijon Thompson (possible season-ending knee surgery) are not rotation players but help Phoenix practice.Phoenix is using Boris Diaw (a converted wing), Shawn Marion (who would rather play wing), Pat Burke (who was out of the rotation for two months) and James Jones (a shooting specialist who played some power forward in college) to man the post positions.</div>This is what happens when cheap UgAy bastards take over your teams.
Why don't you calm down over this situation Arizonafan, and be happy he got good pieces while he was there.
it's because Sarver sucks. The Colangelo's were the best! And I hate U of A so if I get a chance to mention how retarded Sarver is then I will.
