Bigkallday started this thread way too prematurely, but barring some unforeseen rejuvenation from JO, I think I'm on board with his sentiments. After the first half of this season, I just don't see what Colangelo expected from this deal. The only positive I've seen so far is that his presence early in training camp may have aided in Bargnani's development, but even that's hard to prove. Aside from that, he's clearly a deteriorated asset, he doesn't jive well with Bosh's game, and he's potentially a distraction (that's yet to be proven, but it very well could turn out to be the case).

The trade isn't that big a mistake when you try to fit in the pieces we gave up in our long-term future. The fact is that Ford, Nesterovic, and Baston weren't going to be with this team for very long any ways. It's a big mistake when you view those parts as missed opportunities. While TJ and Rasho weren't in our long-term plans, they were both valuable assets that we got nothing back for. TJ was one of the more attractive trade prospects this summer. Rasho will be a huge expiring contract this upcoming offseason that we can either trade or run out to use the space. The first round draft pick speaks for themselves. What I'm saying is that those pieces represented potential, and they could've/should've netted us much more than JO.

I mean it's not the end of the world, because in true Colangelo fashion, this trade won't handcuff us for very long. But I don't think you can deny that BC should've settled for much more than that deal.

Chutney I'm going to disagree on TJ Ford. I'll concede that I didn't follow things very closely, but I don't recall a big market for Ford. Major injury concerns and a post 2010 contract will tend to scare teams off. So I look at it and I'm not sure what more they could have gotten.
