?? I was saying it was pure logic to put Bayless back into the game ASAP. How is that not pure logic?

I said 2/3 stops, not shut down. Those stops were the difference because NJ couldn't get any on the othe end.

Unfortunately, not everyone does read the whole thread. I got beat up for making a comment about +/- that was taken out of context.

I agree with you +/- can be totally taken out of context. A lot of it can have to do with the lineup a player is on the floor with during the game, not their particular performance. That is why you have to watch the game to know the whole story.

I was never talking solely about you, why would you think I was? Go back and read a few of those pages, it's just whine whine whine. It's like a little kid throwing a temper tantrum because he wants his toy RIGHT NOW and can't wait one fucking minute.

I'm going to go savor the victory, not debate how lame this thread is.

I think it's been the best team I've heard all year. I wish Mike & Mike were that good.

he is one tenth of a foul away from the league lead in fouls per game. he is the only person keeping himself off the court. yes, he did not foul tonight, but this was an anomaly. he cannot play more than a minute or two more per game than he has thus far with that foul rate.

    I'll bite.

Sergio played a solid game and stymied Harris defensively. The team was composed and fluid with him in there and they outscored the Nits by 1 with him in (the only starter with a +). He certainly didn't give Nate any reason to be upset or cut back his time. He clearly is most effective with Joel, Rudy, Travis, Channing and LaMarcus, as they are all good at moving without the ball.

It's awkward when he is with Roy, as Sergio thrives on a continuously quick game and Roy will kill the momentum about every 3rd time upcourt by dribbling for 15 seconds at the top of the key. Their games don't mesh and Roy doesn't appear to get along personally very well with him. I never see Roy talk to him.

Bayless had a great game in the second half when others were struggling and got enough momentum going that the refs gave him a couple calls that were borderline and especially nice was he actually made shots and got to the line a lot. It's great to have another aggressive player going to the rim but someone needs to tell him not to rub it in so much when he scores. He does that silly strut-around yelling thing that Jack always did, and besides pissing off his opponents it looks downright silly. It seem he ignores Rudy when he is open, as does Roy.

Someone needs to show him a mirror. He's 6' 3" and if he keeps trying to go to the rim against PF's and C's they will keep slamming him to the floor in a heap. At his current rate of 3 times a night he'll be medically retired before Darius Miles is. Choose your battles wisely, Jerryd.:tsktsk:

I was amazed when I saw Roy's stat line, because I thought he looked fatigued to the point of being ill (again) but, wow.

Oden had a bad game. He needs to learn how to throw a guy off without fouling. He was completely blocked from the ball by Lopez when he was in. There was no point having him in that way.

LaMarcus had a good game and was wide open all night, but nobody but Sergio seemed to notice him.

We had a mismatch working with them, they were unable, for whatever reason, to match up to what we were doing. Lopez was flustered, they kept losing Outlaw in the corner, which was critical, and it was opening up huge holes in the lane, when LMA would drag Lopez away from the rim. Now, enter Oden, enter, say, Anderson. Oden isn't straying far, Lane is clogged, Bayless and Roy are not getting those layups as easily. How can you not see that the reason we won tonight was the lineup that we were running. I am in no way a huge Nate fan. I am critical of him in stretches, but he saw, for tonight, what seemed to be working and what was not, and saw, even with Harris getting into the lane, that he would probably get there, as well as get a FT, if they went back to killing us with the pick and roll. Did you want to see a repeat of that? Gimme a break. We won. And we won because of a smart decision by Nate to go to what was working and stick with it. This is fucking pathetic. Everyone on this board, sorry, not everyone, don't need STOMP yelling at me for generalizations, a lot on this board bitch and whine and complain if Nate goes away from what they think is working. This was working tonight. And you;re saying go away from what not only brought us back from a 10 point defecit, but got us a 6 point lead, and try to win the way we were losing. And if it hadn't worked, you;d probably be on here bitching about how we lost because Nate benched a hot hand. FUck this shit. Un-fucking-believable how own and whiney and bitchey some people on this board are. We are very rarely going to have perfect games. We struggled tonight early, and we found what was working and stuck with it. Be fucking happy, instead of always taking your little pot shots. Fuck.
Go Blazers. And Go Bayless. Starting PG. Blakes just been Wally Pipp'ed bitches.

Well exactly. You've put it perfectly. He doesn't play well with Roy. Well Roy ISN'T GOING ANYWHERE. He is the FRANCHISE PLAYER. We need a PG who PLAYS WELL WITH HIM. And thus, BAYLESS is the future starting PG. Not SERGIO.

sergio stymied harris defensively? not sure what you're talking about, but the guy who made several stops on harris was bayless.

sergio is the guy who dribbles the shot clock out more than anyone else. roy does occasionally try to go one on one a time or two too often, but that general is when he's either really hot or no one else is knocking down shots and portland needs a bucket.

does "nobody" include roy and bayless? both guys got the ball to aldridge when he was open.

but a smarter decision by nate would have been to pound the ball inside to oden when he was in the game because it was clear that lopez couldn't handle him without fouling.

No, you can't actually. You can't guarantee anything at all about "if we would have".:tsktsk:

With Sergio in we outscored them by 1, with Bayless in we outscored them by 5.

Sergio has a lot more success stories closing out big games than Bayless does. Years more.

    Either way we win.

    Be happy.

I thought Nate did a splendid job of coaching tonight.
