Paul outplays Kidd, leads Hornets past Mavs - By JAIME ARON (Associated Press). Another no contest in PG duel - Tim MacMahon (Dallas News). Chris Paul welcomed Jason Kidd back to the West by whuppin' the future Hall of Famer in his first game after last year's blockbuster trade. This has been the word since Kidd's arrival in Dallas. Kidd has lost a step. He's 35, soon to be 36. Bottom line, Chris Paul is the better player. True, he is better than the 35 year old Kidd. With CP3's talent, it would be a shame to be kicked around by a 35 year old man right? Paul definitely has the skills to be great. No doubt about that. Yes, he is better than Jason Kidd, the now 35 year old Jason Kidd. But lets be real here, Paul wouldn't do near as well against Jason Kidd in his prime. Paul's game , to be effective, needs to score. CP3 will find it hard to do so against the 5 time All-Defensive First Team Kidd. Defensively, Paul will be helpless against Kidd on the post and yes, Kidd will zoom by CP3 all night long. I'll give credit where credit is due, Paul is a great player. But the media has blown the match up into ridiculous proportions. A 23 year old getting past a 35 year old. Really now, that's the headline? Come on.
what a stupid article. ya kidd is a lot older, but i dont think CP3 would have much trouble having a good game against Jason kidd in his prime. Paul is going to be in the hall of fame too and probably end up having a much better career.
Stupid because you didn't understand it? Or stupid because you agree with articles hyping up Paul's play against Kidd? I don't have a problem with Paul being a great player. I even agree that he would probably end up in the Hall of Fame someday. My problem is how the media plays with the match up. Again, it's not a surprise for someone as talented as Paul to play better than Kidd at this stage in his career. My problem is, how they make it look like that Chris Paul is the better player than Jason Kidd. Comparing two players in practically two different stages in their career isn't fair. Now that's stupid!
I dont know which part you are "loling" (lol) but CP3 is killin Kidd's stats for their first few years
This constant comparison is stupid. Paul is continuing to rise as a great player, while Kidd is on a decline. Why would you compare the two players at this point in time? A monkey could comprehend the fact that Paul will win out every time...now. Let's compare Lebron to the 45 year old Jordan. That should be close.
^Im not arguing that at all..Of course that is obvious..Im talking about when both careers are all said and done IMO CP3>Kidd
that's a pretty bold statement when a lot of things could come into play. I'm a huge Paul fan myself, but Kidd has been the best PG of the last decade. I won't be making any of those statements until a few years from now
Thank you... My point exactly! Its' stupid for the media to keep magnifying how Paul is beating Kidd. A 23 year old versus a soon to be 36 year old. Duh? Bottom line, Kidd, like Magic, Stockton and Robertson are once in a lifetime.
Exactly! How many players you can say who can dominate a game without scoring a single point... Jason Kidd. Take away Paul's scoring, he won't be the same player we all see now. Kidd dominates in both ends of the floor. The problem today is people look too much at the scoring column. It's all about how somebody scores x amount of points in a game. Kidd has been the best in his position since Magic and Stockton... The best POINT GUARD.
"What WRONG with that sentence"? Sorry... Those players I mentioned comes only so often in a lifetime. Better?
I agree, but in the end CP3 will eclipse Kidd when both of their careers are over. CP3 can rack up assists just as good as Kidd could back in the day it seems. Kidd has had 3 years of avg over 10 assists but never over 11. CP3 avg 11.6 ast in his third year and 11.2 so far this year
It's not just the assists. I've never seen any single player control the tempo of the game like Kidd on every play. His unselfishness, I think, led to his teams making the second and third pass, taking the assist away for Kidd even though he did set up the score. It's not very often you see a player who can dominate the game without taking a single shot; I certainly don't think Paul could do that, not yet anyway. At this point, I take Kidd in his prime every day of the week.
Stats do mean something Yess Kidd>CP3 on D...but defense it one of the lower requirements for a PG. See: Steve Nash
