Yes, hes played well vs Chicago and Jersey but the reason he didn't play well vs philly is cause they made him shoot from the outside. Now watching him vs the nets was great, he pretty much won the game with roy (of course) BUT after being put through the agony of watching sergio play... anything looks good. My biggest concern with bayless is he cant shoot... at all. Teams will figure this out and take away his penetration. If he could shoot... he'd be a nice little player. PG i dont know but SG....maybe. Prob a god bench player to have but come on...hes not a starter. I cant believe i came on here and guys are asking for him to start over blake. ARE U KIDDING ME?

With that said, i hope nate starts bayless for now and once blake comes back...THE SERGIO RODRIQUEZ DAYS ARE FINALLY OVER IN PORTLAND! We can only pray. God hes miserable. Maybe our cake baking GM realizes that. Nah he was prob at a Central Connecticut game or something.

    Bayless can shoot:

    http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=280410012

And he shot great during summer league. You can't judge anything Bayless has done in the NBA until tonight's game because tonight was the first time he knew GOING INTO THE GAME that he was going to be playing MAJOR MINUTES. So he finally knew he wouldn't be yanked and he wasn't being thrown into it like he was last game when Blake got hurt. So don't judge Bayless' outside shooting in games before tonight. Now that he is out of the "strangehold," he will make outside shots if the defenses give them to him.

BUT... all his shots were layups or shots very close to the basket. He needs to hit some threes or pull ups.

listen....i will take bayless any day of the week over sergio....but im saying defenses will start making bayless shoot jumpers to keep him honest!

The point is, this is a game where we can finally point to Bayless playing up to his potential. Finally point to Bayless playing well with Roy, which has been brought into question over the last few weeks. This was finally some evidence for those of us who support Bayless getting more PT.

Ummmm..... dude..... Bayless shot 6 of 10 from the three point line in that ASU/AZ game. Click on the fucking link. And he shot 2 of 3 in his last summer league game. Click on the fucking link.

    Learn the game, then post.

do you know anything about bayless before he got to the blazers? the guy can shoot the ball. he shot over 40% from three in college and that was on 145 attempts(about 5 per game).

he hasn't proven it on the nba level yet, but he also hasn't been given consistent minutes. i'd be shocked if he continues to struggle shooting from distance for much longer.

I don't know...if I had a guard that could put up 23 on 9 shots, even though "they were all at the rim"...I'd probably take it and run!

I mean, Dwyane Wade parleyed that into a pretty good career so far, right?

Well, it's hard to base something off two games, but I do think Bayless has some trouble shooting jumpers.

For one, his shot is very streaky, but this guy shot 40% from three in college. It's like we know he can shoot it, but he's given no indications in games that he can indeed hit jumpers.

Bayless played a great game tonight, not only on offense, but on defense. He should be applauded for it.

Relax? Fuck that.. Jerryd had a great game for a rookie, and single-handedly turned the game in our favor. I'm going to get excited about that. If we relaxed with every good thing that happened, the RG would be a deader than dead with people sitting on their hands. It'd basically be Memphis.

What's the fun in not enjoying the game?

This is partly true. Teams will start scouting Bayless and make him shoot jumpers.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Bayless shows an amazing ability to get into the paint and draw fouls. Players who can do that with such consistency are rare and extremely valuable. In addition, Bayless has a great shot (which he showed in college...I have very little doubt that he'll start knocking the same shots down in the NBA). A player who can shoot and can get to the rim and draw fouls is unstoppable. If he shows that this ability is real and not flukish, I'll have to revise my ideas of his ceiling upward.

Open shots are open shots. You said that people will play off of him and make him shoot, but you say he can't shoot. I show you college and summer league to say yes, he can shoot. If people leave him open in the NBA, he will knock down the shots now that he is out of the "stranglehold."

You can't judge any game that Bayless has played this season until tonight's and all the games after because he had a "stranglehold." He never knew if he was gonna play or not. You can't look at the shooting percentage of a guy who comes in, takes a shot, then gets yanked out, etc. And in the last game, where he shot 1 of 11, he wasn't expecting Blake to go out and he was thrust into a comeback drive without being ready for it. But at his soul, he is a great shooter and now that the "stranglehold" is off, you will see it.

i hope your right speed but so far he hasnt hit many jumpers.

i want the blazers to win so i dont care if he drives or shoots...but if he just drives...teams will figure that out and make him shoot. if he does both...then we have ourselves a player boys!
