Welcome to the NBA, Jerryd Bayless! Or should I say, "NBA, are you ready for Jerryd Bayless?" He definitely arrived tonight. As I was leaving the Izod Center after the game, I heard a guy next to me say, "If the Knicks were smart, they would trade for Bayless tomorrow." Heh, heh. What a great game to watch in person. Roy returned to his old form, and got active in the first quarter. His drives to the hoop and his deft layins were a thing of beauty. Aldridge hit everything in sight, Outlaw hit two enormous three-pointers in a row, and of course Bayless was the sensation of the game. When he drove for that baseline dunk, you could hear the crowd suck in its breath. There was a collective, "Aaaah . . . " On my drive home, one of the local announcers was gushing about the Blazers' youth and talent, and their bright future. He was especially admiring of Roy. "Roy is to die for," he said. A good night to be a Blazer fan! Here are some pictures I took from my seat in Sect. 103. This is Roy running off the court after the win--and having just hugged Vince Carter.
Great video! I saw the play from the opposite end of the court, and it still brought me out of my seat.
Here's the video from the Blazer broadcast:
I think if Calimari can ever get healthy he's got potential to be a helluva D'Antoni player. As for Jerryd, I don't think he fits the mold as much ... unless NY had a dynamic wing in the mold of Roy, Joe Johnson, Wade, etc. (which they certainly don't).
We should all choose to be indifferent on plays like this. Emotion should only be reserved for the moment when the Finals are actually won. And even then, maybe a golf clap.
No, even better, my ticket was free. I actually had two free tickets, and tried to give the other one away on this board, but I couldn't find any takers. Here are some more pictures from the game:
I wish I could have connected with you. I posted my offer on the board for several hours yesterday, but no one responded. The tickets were given to me only about a day before the game, so I didn't have a lot of advance notice.
