The guy from BlazersEdge apparently caught Rudy and Sergio practicing some potential dunks for the Slam Dunk contest, and... let's just say that they are definately working some European flair into their ideas, including Rudy performing a soccer-style "Rainbow Dribble" with the basketball, alley-ooping to himself for a reverse dunk. Sergio was also practicing kicking volleys from halfcourt, and consistantly finding the precise point above the rim for a perfect alley-oop. Whatever these guys have planned sounds sick as hell, and if they are able to pull off some of this, we may have a dark-horse contender for the title.
I thought Sergio didn't want to help him in the dunk contest, instead opting for vacation. Has this changed?
I don't know... perhaps. Brandon said he'd be happy to help Rudy with whatever passes he needed, but maybe Rudy convinced Sergio to vacation in Phoenix instead of the beach.
If Sergio went I would think Rudy could do some better, more creative dunks. I'm not too sure Roy has a lot of chemistry with Rudy, at least nowhere near his and Sergio's.
Depends on who you ask I guess, but Canzano was clamoring for Rudy to bow out of the contest after watching him practice those dunks, saying that Rudy was forced into it by his agents and his circle and that he could tell he didn't want to do it. I don't know if Sergio is going to be there or just helping him come up with ideas.
I just read the report on Blazer's Edge (thanks for the head's up). Gotta say that while I was a little leary about Rudy's chances, if he pulls off the shit they are talking about, I will be jumping ten feet off my couch. The soccer-style alley-oops ... didn't Steve Nash head the ball, soccer style, to Amare Stoudemire in a dunk contest a few years back? That was OK, but the stuff Rudy and Sergio are trying is way better. Thanks for the head's up! -Pop
