Just curious, why do you want Maggette and are you considering that he costs about 10 mil per year for either 5 or 6 years (I'm too lazy to look it up).

He's a no defense playing black hole who is very good at getting to the rim but instead of consistently doing it he decides that he's a good perimeter shooter and fires up bricks all game.

I've almost thrown something through my TV too many times form getting frustrated watching him. If I were the Ws GM, he'd be gone for the first expiring contract (or even 2 year contract) I could get.

That's Kallday speaking, not Colangelo. Any JO trade would be motivated by cap flexibility first and foremost, and Maggette doesn't bring that at all.

are u fuckin serious? do you play fantasy bball? if you did you wud love to have corey on ur team, he goes to the freethrow line 7-10 times a game, and his FG% is skewed this year because of his injuries but on most night he shoots at very good %, and I would take him over kapono, moon, graham and all of them any day! HE IS VALUABLE!

No i dont think his garbage sometimes players take a long time to develop prefext example Bargs and joey graham, when your minutes are skewed and you dont play consistently you can not develop!

Yea, I get that man. I just don't see how he's an option for us. Colangelo screwed up with JO and he wants to erase that mistake. The best way to do that is by bringing in soon-to-be expiring contracts that don't mess up your financial situation going forward. That's why we've heard about Marion and Odom.

Maggette does the exact opposite of that. We put ourselves on the hook for his every-increasing salary (tops out at almost $11 mill a year!) all the way until 2013. There's no doubt in my mind that Colangelo would bite the bullet and deal with JO for a season and a half rather than bring in Maggette. Sure Corey's a talented player. But to financially handcuff yourself that bad, you'd better be sure the player will push you over the top. And the Raps are too crappy right now to be pushed over the top by any single player.

It doesn't make sense to point to fantasy basketball stats in that context though. He's giving you a first-hand account of why Maggette's stats are misleading: He can get to the rim at will, but he continues to fall back to his shaky jumpshot too often (and for no reason). And if you look at Maggette's statline, you can see that it backs his claims up. Maggette's got a good scoring average and is getting to the line, but he's still averaging too many 3 pt. attempts considering he's shooting 20%. And you can't even chalk that average up to injuries either, because he's hovered around the 30% his whole career, even matching that 20% mark two seasons ago (where he didn't have any major injuries to deal with).

Do you play fantasy basketball? I didn't think so. Please don't talk...

But in all seriousness, I agree. I'm not a fan of Maggette.

When you consider all the financial implications of the trade, I dont think I would trade Jamario Moon for Corey Maggette right now and Jamario is a joke of a player. What do you guys think of Marquis Daniels as a guy off the bench? Think we can swing a guy like Kapono for him? I think a rotation of Marion(IF we do actually get him), Daniels, Graham, and AP. Would go a long way for the raps.

We'd be giving up a lot of our outside shooting in that turnaround when you think about it. From having arguably the league's best plethora of shooters, we'd be really reliant on an inconsistent AP, Bargnani, and Jose Calderon. Although, with our weak backup PG's, I do like the idea of having another player who could play spot minutes at the 1.

The most appealing thing about that trade is Daniels' contract (up 'till 2010, with a team option for the last year). And that might be the reason why Indiana doesn't go for it.

    Re: Done deal

Exactly, what kind of success did they, as a team, have? What does being an allstar have to do with team success? That Wizards team made it to the 2nd round, losing to the top seeded Miami Heat. Also their first playoff appearance since '97-'98.

But anyways, since you mentioned it, Hughes, Arenas and Jamison were the highest scoring trio that year. His individual numbers that year were 22PPG/6.3RPG/4.7APG. Hughes also led the league in steals with 2.89. Larry Hughes would have made the ASG if not for an injury. So there you go. Individual and team success.
