I agree that is how it would be portrayed in the media. I wonder why it isn't portrayed like that now? I think it is a male thing . . . an young male having sex with an elder person doesn't say victim all over it the way a young female having sex with an elder person does. Sad, but I think that is what is going on here.
I think its a gay thing. The catholic priests who molest boys are predatory. The media is so enamored with Adams being an openly homosexual mayor that portraying him as a predator would be thought of as homophobic behavior. So they "tolerate" it and don't treat it as if he were straight.
Adams needs to resign immediately. I personally have trouble believing that he somehow waited until this kids 18th birthday before having sex with him. He openly admits to dating the kid while he was still 17. That is just WRONG!
The more I think about this, the more it bothers me (and I like Sam). But whether he was courting this boy (or as I say, grooming) or whether he had sex with him . . . one is illegal and the other is immoral for a public figure to do (we are talking an intern here right). It is wrong on a couple of levels and the fact that he discloses it after the election . . . well Sam the passionate might actually be Sam the devious.

Ugh . . . sounds like Adams is trying to twist this all around and using the fact he is gay as sympathy for his sitatuion. Sam we don't care if you interact with boys and girls . . . we care if they are an intern, you date them while they are a child, have sex with then when they turn 18 and lie about it. Let's stick to the issues.

He gave a job to both a reporter who knew the details and also to the "intern"/lover, which could be construed as a conflict of interest. The lengths people will go to explain away the faults of polticians on "their team" never ceases to amaze me.
