He looked OK, the early foul trouble and his tendency to pick up "rookie" fouls definitely prevented him from getting into rhythm, but otherwise he played with aggressiveness on defense and his sixth foul was a pretty iffy offensive foul -- he went up for a shot and brought his off arm down to about a 20 degree angle and they called him for clearing out. The dude has a lot of work to do before you could say he's a threat on the low block however.
That little jump hook shot he has need some major work from what Ive seen...He isnt nearly putting enough arc on it. Bad for making the shot and getting blocked.
He's just rushing it right now and it starts with his footwork. Bottom line is we are seriously missing Mo Lucas our big man coach right now.
Not familiar with that situation. Is he an assistant coach who isnt around for some reason or someone you think should be hired?
Maurice Lucas was a power forward on our championship squad back in 1977 (a very skilled, tough power forward in his day) http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/l/lucasma01.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maurice_Lucas Anyway, he's been out since September when he had a bout with a particulary nasty strain of pneumonia, and was in the ICU for quite awhile. He's been our big man coach for the past couple of years, and not having him kind of sucks.
FYI, I DID know he was a player Dint know he was in the coaching business. Yeah thats some ill timing (pun intended) to get sick, but it sounds like he is almost all good. Oden really needs someone to lean on like that. Its sorta hard for Nate or the other 6'6' and under coaches to give great advice for a C.
Bynum's looking nice. Oden is still kinda underwhelming..... Hope I dont get shitted for saying that, like I was shitted on over the summer for not jumping on Oden's d*** even though it looks like I was right about him. The dude isnt quite the 'instant' force that he was hyped to be by Blazer nation is he? Not that im surprised or that I mean to gloat or anything like that, im just pointin out that he will take time to develop, like i had been saying from jump but Blazers in denial shunned the idea. I got all that shit I got over the summer for saying that he would take time to adjust and ppl laughed. Apperently now they can see the light. Glad to see some of you finally come around. Give him a year or two to get his game right. I see him as a bigger version of Emeka Okafor as I have said many a times. The guy will be a big presence, but nothing like Moses Malone or Bill Russell or some of the other crazy comparisons I heard over the summer... I look forward to seeing Dwight and G.O. showdown next tuesday. Should be a great game.

Statwise sure. If you actually watch the effect of both guys on the floor, Oden affects that game in a way only Dwight Howard does right now. Teams constantly double him, he gets pretty much all the rebounds in his half of the court and his intimidation factor at the rim keeps a lot of guys shooting jumpers. I like Bynum, but I don't see him changing a lot of teams' game plans on a nightly basis.
the funny part is every single ad was the same face, and he had the same face goin' at the end of the commercial also! It was funny. It is actually somewhat a common face, which makes it even funnier!
Well he is dominant on the Defensive end, with a great PER and an insane rebounding rate... he is leading rookies in rebounding and just got his 7th double-double of the year in like his 15th game. HE will also probably end up with better stats his rookie year than Dwight Howard did. On offense, he is the 3rd or 4th option, and usually never gets over like 5 shots a game, but he gets to the line a lot, and is a nice shooter a around 70%. I think most (non myopic) blazer fans said he was going to struggle at the start and then after the all-star break be very good. You can already see him putting up double-double's with ease... But that is just stats. Were you looking at it from only a stats point of view. Because he is an insane game changer... one of the biggest game changers at the C position.. probably the 3rd biggest game changer at that position in the League right now. TBH, give Greg 10 more mpg and 6 more shots per game and he'd be gettin' 16 and 11 for sure.
once oden can consistently play 30 mpg, he will be putting up similar if not better numbers than bynum. when that happens though, who knows.
Agreed the Clips had a horrible lineup...but this is a 21 year old kid. How many 21 year old have had ONE game like this in the NBA? This is an amazing game against whoever! Bogut was out in Oden's good game right?
