MT and Vic the Brick Jacobs were dismissed from am 570 as a result of the station's new format. This is a travesty! The new 'format' is designed for the station to go national, so they eliminated the homer guys .. but that's what makes local radio local radio. It's like ESPN sabotaged KLAC and made them do something stupid so that we can go tune in to ESPN. I was upset that the Lakers broadcast was being moved to ESPN radio, but it looks like that's just the only direction we can go now for Lakers talk.
This doesn't effect me since I don't really listen to the radio, but that sucks to hear. I've heard about the guys you've mentioned like Vic the Brick and Mychell Thompson (???). That really sucks though, so you guys have to listen to ESPN now? The same station that jock rides Lebron every second? Good grief that's horrible...
It happened today .. from what I'm reading, it was the entire station .. I know PMS went nationally, turns out the whole station did .. RIP LA sports radio .. it's now all national I commute an hour and a half each way to work everyday .. it's gonna be that much more horrible now
ew... that sucks. Good luck with ESPN. Are they still going to talk about Lakers basketball though? Just with different people? Or will you have to listen to how great Lebron is 24/7?
they will do more lakers stuff starting next season when the lakers move to that station .. but the guys that are currently there, they suck .. maybe they will bring in new guys next year .. but the cannons as we knew it WERE LA sports radio. PMS too. I listened to them today and it was awful

Really sucks. I loved listening to VTB he was a big homer but he was entertaining. I'm not even going to bother to listen to the new idiots fuck them. They should suck each other up. fucking ***s.

So where do you guys listen to the radio though? Just wondering. The only time I turn on the radio is if I'm in the car. lol. Sucks to hear though, LA fans don't deserve this.
At work I listen to Cannons, and my drive home I listen to PMS .. living in the east la area and working in west la, my commute home is an hour and a half so it's what gets me home .. but when I listened to PMS today and they were talking about stuff they normally wouldn't talk about, and then they took a caller from Cincinnati, i was like wtf?? something isn't right ... oh well, espn was inevitable
I am really sorry to hear this guys. I listen to a bit of sports radio in the car and I don't like it when people screw with the format.
I knew the Lakers broadcasts were going to be moving to ESPN Radio, but I thought part of the deal KCAL negotiated was for Mycal Thompson and Speros to remain the play by play announcers to the local area? I can't say I'll miss Petros much, but this is a sad day for local LA radio. I guess Dave Smith will be adding a lot more listeners on the SportsLodge and the Drive.
The Lakers' should have stayed with am570 or moved to am850 (I believe that is the station). : [ I'll miss VTB : [ Spero and MT will still be calling Laker games for ESPN Radio next year.
VTB can go fuck himself...he was entertaining for about 30 seconds the first time I tuned in. I will miss the fact that the local programming is gone though
