He basically says what ive been saying for months and have been called a troll for. Seriously its time for thsi team to take the next step. Its a good listen...check it out.

Isn't anyone else sick of nates and kps excuses of us being young? Roy and Aldridge are in year 3 and outlaw is in year 6. http://blog.oregonlive.com/blazers/2009/01/jason_quick_chat.html

I don't use youth as an excuse. Its nice to be young, but we have to win.

When Webster is back and Oden is more comfortable, we're going to be awesome.

I removed my boy MIX from my ignore list to see if I was right............... and I was! The "excuse" that we are young is NOT an excuse god damnit! We ARE young!!!! And if you think you gain any type of credibility just because you and Quick have the same opinion........... is a joke unto itself.

PS- I missed you. You are no longer on my ignore list!

Coming into the season the majority of people felt just making the playoffs would deem this season a success. The Blazers WILL make the playoffs.

The Blazers are right on track where the overwhelming majority of people thought they would be, yet that same majority seems to forget that at times. People just want more and more and forget the realistic explanations they made earlier.

MAKE A DEAL! We have many moveable pieces. Sergio, outlaw, raef, frye

We need an upgrade at SF, PG. and backup PF.

    Gerald Wallace is perfect.

David Lee and Nate Robisnon would be perfect.

    Caron Butler would be great.

    Shawn Marion would help

    Deng and Kirk

I mean i would take any of them. All would help us. I dont know if their teams would do a deal but ive heard their names for months. Its exactly what we need to get over the top.

You're assuming teams just want to dump their best players off to the Blazers for nothing great in return. Don't expect that to happen.

Teams are going to want one of the big 3/rudy/bayless/batum

I think Nate Robinson would be a joke. I hate that guy, he's such a black hole and sucks. Gerald Wallace would be good. Caron Butler would be good. Fuck Shawn Marion. Fuck Kirk Heinrich. Deng would be good.

I think when webster comes, he'll be a solid addition to the team, especially if NATE will get Oden into the offense.

I wouldn't be against trading for Gerald Wallace, Deng or Butler...however, to actually get it done is another matter as far as the other team being willing to do so.

I will coordinate a mass suicide at the end of the season among us Blazer fans if we don't make the playoffs.

this team is on pace for 49-50 wins, we only won 41 last season. if we keep on our current pace that means an improvment and most likely making the playoffs. to me that's taking the next step.

4 rookies playing significant roles and minutes for this team. Excuse, maybe, but this team IS young and currently making a run for the playoffs. I would be dissapointed if they fall out of the race, however I will continue to keep perspective. If it isn't this year, it's coming and there will be several championship runs after that. I just don't see any reasons to jeopardize future success for a "sure thing" playoff run this year. Now, that doesn't mean "bake it", but that does mean unless KP gets the pieces he feels can get us over the top, no need to make significant changes.

I think this season has been a success, I think we make the playoffs and even if the Blazers lose in the first round it is playoff experience and as some have said, it is taking the next step. I would be disappointed if the Blaers didn't make the playoffs and probably won't consider the season a success, but don't think that would be a reason to blow up or give up on the team.

Having said that, I think Mixum is raising a valid point about should the Blazers make a trade? And it goes beyond saying they will make a trade only if KP thinks it helps them, that's obvious. The valid question (if we are allowed to question mamagement) is are they capable of making a big trade that put them over the top.

KP is great and I don't see anyone questioning his ability to evaluate young talent. But his resume is lacking the big trade for a proven big time caliber player. KP isn't afraid to make moves during the summer, but rarely makes a move mid-season for an NBA player . . . which makes me wonder is it simply his philosophy to not make mid-season trades (unless there is an obvious one) or he is a little gun shy with his evaluation of current NBA players?

How is being young NOT an excuse. You got starters that are playing their first NBA season. It takes practice to learn the NBA, it takes time. Not 1 or 2 games, but entire seasons, and then postseasons. Especially for centers.

Believe it or not, everyone who is not a crazy Portland fan has seen a lot of improvement this year vs last year's squad. We also didnt expect Oden to come in and average 20/10, because rookie centers just dont do that. If you would just temper expectations somewhere close to "reality" you wouldnt be so dire.

The fact is, there are 9 teams worthy of the playoffs and 8 spots. A team that should make the playoffs wont. Blazers are on pace for 48-49 wins, if that isnt good enough for the playoffs, it doesnt mean this season is a waste. Its all a learning expirience, especially for a "young" team.

Actually, I don't think it has anything to do with his ability to evaluate the talent of current NBA players. After they've been in the league a couple years, the talent becomes pretty obvious - especially to a smart guy like Pritchard.

If there is a reluctance to make a mid-season trade, I think it has to do more with fit and chemistry. KP seems to like to to go into the season with the major pieces in place and let them grow together as a team. He seems hesitant to make an adjustment midstream for fear that it may derail that growth as a team.

On the other hand, sometimes bringing in a player of known talent is just what a team needs to make the next step (like Gasol to the Lakers last season and Billups to the Nuggets this season).

I think the Blazers will make one, or more, trades before the deadline. The real question is will it bring in a player that's part of the regular rotation, on just be a swap of end of the bench guys.
