In a rush to out-scoop all the other Blazer beat reporters, siting his "sources", Quick reported that Iavaroni had been hired as the next Blazer coach. The club denied this for obvious reasons. A backpedaling Quick then revealed that his source was Canzano and that he hadn't double checked with the Blazers or anyone else as to whether this was true. Canzano then blamed the organization. Jason is that you this was a hilarious chapter in Blazer lore perfectly exemplifying how pathetic the coverage of the team is by the O. I just referenced this the other day when Quick was up on his high horse chastising lazy sports talk radio reporting Anyhoo... there are a few other Blazer connections here. Bucks Assistant coach and former Blazer great Lionel Hollins will take over the reigns in two games and in the meantime former Blazer and current Griz assistant coach Johnny Davis will handle matters in the interm http://areyouwatchingthis.com/nba/news/86555-Report-Grizzlies-fire-coach-Iavaroni-to-hire-Hollins STOMP
IMO this is just further proof that when D'Antoni never broke through to the finals while in Phoenix, and then eventually was fired, that up tempo(Phoenix a year go and more) ball is again, on the way out. The only team playing it will soon be NY, where D'Antoni is now. Right now, teams are in copycat mode, and what wins is defense. Once it became obvious that is the way the league was going, it was just a matter of time.
I just saw they hired Lionel Hollins with Mo Cheeks as his assistant. I hope Hollins has a better run than some in his past, but he has as a tough situation.
There's a rumor that Chris Wallace wanted us to trade him Travis Outlaw, and threatened to sign Darius Miles if we didn't do it. Furthermore, there's a rumor that there is a phone recording of the threat.
Just remember, it is the people who can't handle being insane, and then go postal, that make the rest of us look bad.
Who is the source of these rumors - Quick or Canzano? Or, is it one citing the other as a "source"? BNM
Well if there isn't one, I am sure there are enough tech savvy people on the forum we can conjure something up which sounds pretty good!
Oooh that gives me shivers of good possibilities for the Blazers coming out of this looking good instead of bad!
Mo Cheeks reunited with Darius? This Chris Wallace just continues to look like a sheer genius in the NBA with every day and his approval of hires.
Seems like Avery Johnson turned down a five-year deal to coach the Grizzlies. Good for Avery! Don't get stuck being a loser for your coaching career. Let some other desperate guy looking for a coaching job handle it and work with Chris Wallace. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3855045 Although I think he meant Chris Wallace was awful, rather than he thinks an awful lot of him. If Memphis can't even lure a good coach, what makes them believe they can attract top-tier FAs with their cap space? hahahaha... your plan is blowing up in your face Chris. On to plan Z.
Ha! The truth comes out. Since Michael Heisley can't make money off what his team does on the court. So, he's looking for other marketing opportunities. Come soon, the new season of Survivor - Memphis! Who will be the next to be voted off the team, and who will be the ultimate Survivor? BNM
The odd thing is that Wallace reportedly turned down the Blazers' GM spot before they offered it to Nash. http://tsn.sportingnews.com/nba/articles/20030716/483255.html Man. I hate the PatterNash era with so much of my Blazers fan being... Ed O.
