SpikeTV will be showing UFC 91: Couture vs. Lesnar tonight.

The event features two of the most entertaining bouts of the year in Dustin "McLovin" Hazelett vs. Tamdan "The Barn Cat" McCrory and Aaron Riley vs. Jorge Gurgel in addition to the much hyped main event.

The PPV originally aired on November 15th, 2008.

I've been wanting to check out UFC and MMA for some time now. It's difficult since most fights are PPV. I'll definitely will be checking this out.

I'm about to go watch it now. My question is how do you get into the sport without watching the PPV fights considering most, if not all, are PPV. Do most of you buy them?

A lot of Bars show it. If you can get a bunch of guys together for Pizza, Beverages and the PPV the cost isn't so bad
Some stuff can be found for free on HDNet and bit torrents are your friend.

once you've seen a few UFC PPV's on torrents, look up WEC and PRIDE FC
WEC never puts on a bad card and PRIDE FC is considered the pinnacle of MMA by many. I think WAS a great alternative to UFC.

You can get every UFC ever on torrents, including episodes of The Ultimate Fighter--which is the best initiation for a new MMA fan.

Tomorrow night you can watch World Extreme Cagefighting, the UFC's farm league, for free on Versus. Check that out for something fresh.

Yeah I watched a few fights tonight on Spike, pretty exciting sport. I like watching the lighter weight classes before the heavy weights since the light weights are so much faster and agile then the the heavy weights. I want to watch some Rampage Jackson fights. I've seen some videos on Youtube of some of his fights and the guy is sick. He's from Memphis too. ;)

^ BTW that clip is from PRIDE Critical Countdown 2004. The event also featured an amazing fight between Fedor Emelianenko and Kevin Randleman.

3.3-million viewers was the peak for this broadcast, which brought a 1.7 to 1.8 rating for Spike TV. Very successful for an old PPV.
