I wouldn;t do it unless we can get back a serviceable SF paired with a solid shooting guard (Michael Redd?). Howard means a lot to this team but he has really worn out his welcome.

Josh Howard was playing great two seasons ago. If that J.Ho comes back, I'm all for keeping him. He fits in the Dallas system very well, and to be honest, I could not see any other SF in Dallas who would fit as well as he does. The problem is he has regressed, and have had off-court problems. He's also becoming a volume shooter and doesn't slash to the hoop anymore, settling for jumpers which is annoying and ineffective.

I think Dallas' problem is not him though. The team's lack of success, I think, can be attributed to us losing Harris, Kidd's inability to play defense, and holes on the roster (like a real backup PG and a starting SG). He's just our most convenient scapegoat right now. If he was playing like he is now, but Dallas was still a top team in the West, nothing would be mentioned of him being on the trading block.

If this was the Kidd from the Jersey team that went to the Finals, then I'd agree with you. But it's not, this Kidd is old and can't keep up with the youngin's. Also, on offense, Kidd doesn't put pressure on the defender, so they pretty much don't have to guard him for the drive, only for the jumper.

Devin Harris is a good defender, and at least on offense people had to play him for the drive. Avery Johnson never used Harris to his fullest potential, but he did improve from year to year and I believe that if he had stayed, Harris would have eventually reached the level he is playing at now, maybe take 1 or 2 more seasons.
