how great would that be? jamison would help us so much. he can play the 3 or 4. Anyhow Rice mentioned a firesale quite a few times tonight when talking about the wiz and said some "lucky" western conference team would get him. he also said butler would be moved as well. DING DING.....HELLO PRITCHARD??? Givem outlaw and raef.
You're not crazy. Jamison is a pretty good player that can, yes, fill two needs: SF and back up PF. But I like Outlaw so much. But Jamison is a more proven player. I don't want any trades but I would understand this one and I'm sure it would scare the hell out of the rest of the league.
if we got jamison.... we not only make the playoffs... we win a series and maybe more. from the sound of rice.... id say he knows something with tha said.... jamison would also be a great fit on houston, dallas, and a few east teams
jamison is a liability defensively at both sf and pf. i'm not sure how he fixes any problems for this blazers teams. caron butler on the other hand would be even better than gerald wallace and would be a great guy to acquire.
Yeah, I used to think that Jamison was a SF that could play PF...now I think it is more the opposite. He has good range and pulls down boards, but I doubt his ability to play solid defense on the majority of SF's in the league right now. Give me Caron instead or a G. Wallace/D.Granger. Not gonna happen, but that's what I want. I'm greedy.
He's no more of a liability than Outlaw. He has experience, something this team desperately needs. Jamison would be a great fit.
Why would he be a great fit in Houston, they have Artest and Battier already. Dallas already has Howard so I don't see that being an upgrade either.
Interesting... Jamison would definitely be an upgrade at the starting 3 and back-up 4. He's a much better rebounder than Travis, but rebounding isn't really a pressing need at this time. Defensively, it's a push between him and Travis - neither is very good. On the down side, Jamison is 32, has averaged 16.4 FGA/G for his career (never less than 13.4 FGA/A - and that was his rookie year) and shoots way too many 3-pointer for a guy with such a low 3FG%. So, would he be willing to accept a role where he's not the first or second option on offense? I seem to remember him complaining about his role in Dallas when he averaged "only" 13.8 FGA/G. I'd definitely rather have Caron Butler, Gerald Wallace, or even David Lee (who isn't a SF, but would be a huge improvement at back-up PF), but I wouldn't be against giving Jamison a try - if it really is a fire sale and we can get him without giving up too much. BNM
shhhhh...we dont need a trade. this current group has no holes according to most in here. i enjoy watching outlaw give up 20 points a night on defense.
Antawn has lots of experience losing and I don't think it's just because of bad luck. No D or ballhandling, and a 32% 3 point shooter isn't really the sort of SF skills that equate into victories. Next factor in that his contract escalates up to 15M! in 2011-12... when he'll be 35 He does his best work cleaning up misses on the block with his quick flips and hooks, but thats Greg's spot/job. So in PDX he'd be out on the perimeter where he isn't as effective. Thanks but no thanks. he knows what time of year it is... BS trade rumor time! Every single year he floats a million scenarios with a wink and a Cheshire grin for the fans that want their rumorama. Usually his rumors center on the players of the upcoming opponent. Do you really think that management would start including Mike Rice in on whats what with legit trade discussions so that he can tease it on the air? STOMP
I agree with the posters that would prefer Butler, this guy is pretty good on both sides of the ball and gets about 6 rebounds a game and 5 assists a game. To get him we might have to take Jamison also, who is 32 and still has three more years on an expensive contract. Here is a trade that works on Realgm: We give them Travis, Rudy, Jerryd Bayless, Ike, Channing and RLEC. They give us Butler, Jamison, Darius Songaila and either Pecherov or Mc Gee (their choice). This is a really good deal financially for Washington. Besides getting Raef's expiring contract, they get the insurance money and clear a lot of 2 and 3 year contracts. They get Travis, Rudy and Bayless and have the rest of the year to decide what to do with Channing and Ike. For Portland it gives finally a small forward (Butler) who does it all (except shoot 3's), a guy who is maybe one of the top 5 small forwards in the league. Jamison is a hardworking veteran who scores 20 points a night and can back up the 3 or the 4. Butler can also play 2, so we can keep developing Batum. The other two guys are probably a drain on Allen financially, I can't see them getting much playing time. We give up Travis, who is probably never gonna be a consistent allaround player. We give up the potential of Rudy and Bayless, but I think we become a lot better right away. Butler is only 28.
Blazers are not going to trade Rudy. Also, no way does Jamison accept being a bench player! Blazers would either trade for Butler or Jamison but not both.
If the Blazers don't want to offer Rudy and take on Jamison's big contract, then I think Washington would want one of our big three, and I know we don't want to do that.
I'm not a fan of Jamison and not even a big fan of Butler. Jamison is a good scorer but he plays the 3 and 4 insofar as he can't defend either equally. Butler is, at his core, a scorer and I think I'd prefer to add a defensive component to the team at the 3, which is why Gerald Wallace is still my first option. Roy and Aldridge are finally showing aggressiveness and the team will eventually see that Oden can destroy many teams on the inside, and bringing in Butler or (even worse) Jamison to take a lot of shots will set that (what I see as progress) back. Ed O.
ed...thats EXACTLY what we ... a third scorer. they dont have to be good defenders. thats what roy LA and oden can do.
Agreed. Rudy is not going to be included in any trades whatsoever. He's not part of the Big 3 by any means, but I'm assuming with KP, he considers Rudy untouchable.
Age is a factor, especially with his big accelerating contract that pays him $15 when he's 35 and washed up. I get flash backs of the ending days of Pippen.
