i was impressed with what i saw in his first game back...solid practice week did him well: http://video.msg.com/Videos/New-York-Knicks/0WhgRS7zdPu6StZ6nG35tUhI24RRYRt_ ...now can he improve on a nightly basis...we'll have to see startingtonight...i think he has a nice future tho...
Gallo is looking solid, which is surprising considering he's been out most of the season. By merely being on the floor, Gallo makes the Knicks so much better. We have finally have a consistent outside presence. He also can pass and dribble very well. His main knock was his defense, but he's actually played decently on that side of the ball. He's deflecting passes, blocking shots, and contesting shots nicely. Most of his shortcomings on this end have come from being a rookie like biting on fakes and getting outmuscled. I'm interested to see how he'll play when given 25+ minutes.
Everyone who has ever seen Danilo play in Europe knows he is a quality player, and that his talents translate well to the NBA unlike other Euro stars like Jasikevicius. He'll be a great player for the Knicks.
He's pretty good offensively, good range and pretty good basketball IQ. His defense is a big liability from what I have seen so far. He looks likes one of those guys that can go for twenty five, but give up thirty five. That might make him struggle to get minutes his rookie year.
But he hasn't been a liability defensively when he's played so far. Are you talking about when he was in Italy?
I'm not going to lie. I haven't seen any live Knicks games this year, only highlights. From what I saw the first game he played, he had like 6 points I think, he was really weak defensively. Players were getting by him pretty easily, and he would often leave players open with his help D.
Overall, though, his defense has been pretty solid. That's one of the reasons why his +/- has been so ridiculous the past few games.
i like how they are easing him back into things as well...no back to back games...kinda like the yanks and the joba rules
He did a nice veteran move against the Heat, the head fake I think to get the defender in the air and then drawing the foul for 3 shots. Nice way to keep his composure with the clock winding down..
This kid looks like he's got a hell of a future in this league. He plays with a great energy every night and he can flat out stroke it from outside. The Knicks might have made the right call on him after all.
