This weekend Jeff Van Gundy was calling a game and the Memphis/Gasol topic came up and said "The Memphis Grizzlies are the worst organization in professional sports."

Of course, I had to sig it. Is there more of an irrelevant franchise in the NBA than the Griz? Is this organization worse than the Radiers? Do you agree with JVG?

So you are saying that the Raiders lead by Al Davis are worse off? You can rip Chris Wallace all you want but looking at the direction the Raiders are leading is pretty pathetic. At least the Grizzlies made the playoffs three years in a row, and have great young talent.

The Grizzlies are pretty bad, but they haven't been as bad for as long as the Clippers. Also, the Detroit Lions are fucking horrific.

The Pau Gasol led playoff team. As it looks, combined with being in the West, it'll be a better part of a decade before the Grizz sniff the playoffs again.

Yeah how can you forget about the Lions? 0-16 season is worse then a bad GM.

Nobody can question the Grizzlies talent, Gasol, Mayo and Gay are a nice group to build around. They just have terrible management and no direction.

How? You are saying the cap space the Grizzlies have, combined with the young talent they already have won't lead the Grizzlies to the playoffs in around five years?

Yeah it's hard to beat the Lions in how bad they are. Sad. Raiders seem confused too.

Grizzlies wouldn't be near that list if they didn't give away Pau though...and for what...his brother? They already moved Crittenton to (smartly) get their pick back from the Wizards for JCN.

Clippers, Lions, Raiders... all worthy of being considered the worst in pro sports.

Teams like the Kansas City Royals probably are right there, too.

If you want to go back to when the Grizzlies made the playoffs, I could just as easily say the Raiders won a super bowl. Darren McFadden isn't exactly a bad player himself. The fact remains though (as with the Blazers), none of the great young talent matters if they can't become something better than that.

All the Grizzlies have going wrong is a terrible GM. I'll admit that, but Chris Wallace's months in Memphis are numbered.

Good luck trying to lure a big FA to want to play in Memphis, Tennessee.

Well, they are the worst in basketball.

The Lions take the cake though. I'm a Lions fan and it feels horrible to root for a team that has the dumbest owner ever. He let Millen drive that team into the ground, then gave him an extension, then Millen continued to bury that team. Thank god for Calvin Johnson or else I'd have nothing to look forward to on Sunday.

Nobody is knocking the talent level of the players, just the management of the organization ... and if you are going to compare the past success of the Grizzlies to the Raiders you might have at least mentioned the Raiders have won Super Bowls and played in the big game just 6 years ago

Good luck finding a professional athlete that doesn't want a max contract along with other talented players.

Tell that to the Bulls who couldn't find anyone to take their cap space a few years ago. And most NBA players would rather be in Chicago than Memphis. Of course, you could pay Qyntel Woods the max; he likes Memphis.

The Bulls didn't have young players like Rudy Gay and OJ Mayo playing for them.

if the player's current team is unwilling to offer them a max contract, odds are the player isn't someone you want to be offering a max contract to.

memphis isn't going to get star players from their capspace unless they do so by taking back terrible contracts in a trade.
