Totally missing the point has obviously become your thing. I was laughing at the token conservatives on this board who are outraged over this appointment. It's just funny to me that they are suddenly concerned about the integrity of government appointments when the last president spent the majority of his eight years wiping his ass with the Constitution and pissing all over any attempt at integrity in who he appoints to key positions. -Pop
As a symbol, it's a sour note to begin an administration on, particularly if you hope to instill some confidence in your ability to lead the nation into financial recovery. By the time Dubya left office, there were 8,376 different obnoxious things to hold against him. There were 3,452 obnoxious things about Clinton at the end of his term. I'd say this appointment may push Obama into the double digits of obnoxious things for me. I just want Obama to finish 2009 without going into triple digits. But I'm probably setting my expectations too high.
I'm sorry, but did you consider me to be outraged? Mostly, I'm amused. I'm waiting to hear all about the Bush appointments who violated the very laws that they were appointed to oversee. I love the language of those on the left when it comes to the Constitution. You all clearly have no problem with expanding the very notion of "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" to include any whim that occurs to the judiciary. I find it ironic that only the left get to change and expand the Constitution.
Confirmed with 100% of Democrats voting in favor of an admitted tax cheat. This is going to be fun (or horrible).
I thought that Bush rescinded the Constitution. Or at least did irreparable harm that impacted each and every right that every American enjoyed? Isn't that what some people have been bitching about for years now? Ed O.
