LOS ANGELES (TICKER) —Los Angeles Lakers forward Trevor Ariza left Tuesday’s game against the Charlotte Bobcats in the second quarter after suffering a concussion and will not return.

Ariza was elbowed in the head while fighting around a screen. He was replaced by Vladimir Radmanovic with 4:52 remaining in the first half and taken to the locker rooms for further evaluation.

The 23-year-old had one rebound and was held scoreless in 11 minutes before departing.

    :(

Best of luck to Ariza, and Gerald Wallace. Collapsed lung? Damn, that doesn't sound good at all. I wish him the best.

Ariza should be fine though. Concussions are nothing, G-Wall has had like 50 of them ;)

He'll be good to go, hopefully.

Concussions can be a tricky thing. To say that it isn't serious is horribly false. Concussions can easily end a career...ask Steve Young..or Troy Aikman...both of them know all about that.

Granted concussions can be a bad thing, but using those two are horrible examples. Those were two NFL Quarterbacks who often took big hits and suffered multiple concussions.

Steve Young - 7 (officially, but probably plenty more)
Troy Aikman- 10 (officially, but probably plenty more)
    Ariza-1

I hope Wallace is ok too, I knew immediately he was in trouble. Hope he recovers soon and best of luck to both players.

Bad examples I realize since it is a different sport, but I'm just saying. A concussion is nothing to disregard. It might not seem like a bad thing, but depending on the severity, the effects can linger for a really long time, keeping him out of games, or they can end a person's career.
