Don't know if I'm part of that crowd, but since I have been vocal about Bayless not having PG skills yet (and not conceeding it is a given that he develops them) I want to be clear that I think Bayless was a great pick up at that spot and that he does contribute to the team.

    That's all. :D

I would do the deal . . . if they threw in Dirk.

Don't get me wrong I would think long and hard about trading some of those guys for a All-Star level talent player at SF or PG, but It definitely would bother me because I love all the guys we have (minus Sergio and Outlaw when he does something stupid)

I think the whole fact that there is interest in him says something about him coming on. I also think Steve Blake trying to rush back also says something about what is going on in the Blazer PG position right now. Some may view it as the team needs him. I view it as he is trying to defend his job.

I knew Cuban supported the Blazers email for a reason . . . he wants to get a deal done with us.

Time to blow up the Mavs. I threw out Dirk before but got a lot of negative responses due to his defense . . . but i wonder if the Blazers could pull off getting Dirk.

Don't try to speak for me, since your attention span and comprehension skills seem lacking.:sigh:

Everyone here knows I am opposed to trading ANYONE this year, including Raef's contract, for ANYONE.

I have no desire at all to see any current NBA players become Blazers.

And I have stated many times I like Bayless, and I am for keeping him as a SG behind Roy and Rudy in the rotation.

    Bake it! :chef:

Based on the first quarter against Charlotte.....that would be a resounding NFW!

My attention span and comprehension skills are just fine, thank you very much.

The search function is a pretty handy feature (I knew I'd find it somewhere).

To your credit MARIS, you didn't say trade, but what alternative could there be, bring Brandon off the bench?

I wouldn't mind Kidd on the team. :dunno: I wouldn't give Bayless for him...I wouldn't give Sergio for him. I'd feel bad giving up our first rounder this year. I'd give Blake and one of the backup PFs with Raef for him, but DAL would tell me to go home.

    Stalemate.

I bet they do. Too bad they can't have him. Blake for Kidd though...

I would give up Sergio just for the fact that I think that Bayless is the PG of the future...the guy who will be playing 37 minutes a game for the team. Kidd can mentor and groom him. We'd still have Blake and could always use a lower draft pick on a young backup PG like an Eric Maynor, Tyreke Evans, Darren Collison or another player who slips (Stephen Curry? mhmmm.)

Try this trade out. Not that I'm advocating for a half a year rental of Kidd, but what do you all think about this one:

Kidd + Bass -> Sergio, RLEC, Outlaw, Frye

I'd do that trade ... who knows maybe even Cuban would too. As for what happens at the end of the season, I almost wonder if Kidd wouldn't be willing to sign a two or three year deal worth something around the MLE to take on a more reduced role but be in a position to contend for a title late in his career? He's like the epitome of a "Nate" point guard, just because of his defense

I still think Sergio is going to be a great White Team PG, with Bayless as the starter. :dunno:

Nik, as far as Kidd signing, doesn't that get into some weird cap ramifications for an over-36 contract? I'm not as studied-up on that part as most. But I'd really like Kidd.

And unless my eyes deceive me...isn't he shooting 40% from 3 on 4 attempts per game? While still rebounding and dishing assists?

So you'd rather have Sergio as a backup point guard than Kidd? Even at 36+ I'd take Kidd over S-rod just for his defense and rebounding alone (to go along with his brilliant passing).

what do you mean "weird cap ramifications?" He won't be eligible for AARP membership for another 14 years, so I think it's OK for a team to pay him full salary commensurate with his production and likely production -- that is to say when his contract expires there's no way he's going to be a max contract guy, but he's still almost a nightly threat to be a double-double guy (with a healthy dose of rebounds mixed in). I'd offer him close to the full MLE for a two year deal, and something closer to 4.5 to 5 million a year if it was 3+ years.

And yes, he's shooting 39% from three on 4 attempts per game and he's a career 34% from beyond the arc, so not exactly lights out, but decent.

I wouldn't use Dallas as a barometer of talent....remember they did give up Harris to get an Old Kidd....lol....They saw Kidd as a replacement for Harris...and how is that working out?...lol

But Bayless is gonna be something else...wish my Wolves had him. Maybe we'll get Bayless ver.2.0 (Stephen Curry) in this year's draft...lol

I don't think any of those are untouchable, unlike Oden, Roy & Aldridge. But it would have to be a good deal. Not a deal to "put them over the top this year" with an aging star like Carter or Kidd. That would not "put them over the top" if you mean winning a championship or just going to the Finals; look what adding Kidd did to the Mavs, a more experienced team. Nothing! The Blazers clearly are not inclined to do a rent-a-player deal or to commit long term to someone who will be past his time when their core reaches prime age.

I don't think KP loses sleep over what Mixum might say. He is not going to do a deal just to do a deal.

This time of year, rumors are as common as colds and just as helpful.
