Dal wants to trade Kidd for Bayless?

The Mavs wish they had Jerryd Harris.

If they still had Devin Harris, I'd definitely give up a package around Bayless and whatever.

Kidd is still a good player, he's definitely lost a step though.

They obviously are kicking themselves for trading Harris for Kidd right now, and Bayless has a couple similarities to Harris so I can obviously see why they want him

Interesting. JB must be the most coveted young player we have right now that isn't totally untouchable. Sactown wants him and now Dallas. And I never realized this until just now, but JB does have some similarities in his game to Devin Harris. Which is probably a good reason to not let him go.

I think "had talks" means Donnie Nelson called and KP hung up.

renting kidd for 1/2 season with option to buy isn't worth anything we have that dallas would take.

I think the Blazers really lucked out getting Bayless with only having the 13th pick in last years draft. I know there are a few posters that like Sergio better and a few more that thinks Bayless will never be a true PG but IMO he is going to be a very good PG and maybe a star in the NBA in a couple years. If I was KP I wouldn't trade Bayless unless it was something just to good to turn down and a old Jason Kidd isn't that trade.

This further shows that it isn't going to be easy for the Blazers to make a deal like MIXUM seems to think so.

Teams will want one of Batum/Rudy/Bayless and the Blazers probably aren't willing to deal any of them.

Dallas wishes.

What a terrible deal for us.

It Depends. Losing Bayless would be tough to swallow and IMO we shouldn't let him go.

Kidd

for

Raef, Bayless, Channing OR Raef, Bayless, Ike

both of those trades work in terms of cap space. Where it gets more considerable is if Dallas offered Brandon Bass.

if the deal looks like this...

Kidd (21m expiring), Bass(1m expiring)

for

Raef (13m exp), Bayless, Channing (3m expiring)

Kidd arguably provides more immediate help, Bass is a banger that we could resign for cheap and with Kidd's 21m expiring we could still theoretically have a shot at signing Felton or Bibby in the offseason.

I sure as hell hope the Blazers don't deal any of them.

Frye, Diogu, Randolph, Sergio, Lafrentz, multiple picks (seconds or firsts) and one of Webster and Outlaw are probably the only things I would really be ok with trading

I'd like the 20$ million off the cap, but seeing as we'd probably have to throw in Raef's contract, the amount off the cap that we'd actually gain is much less, and I don't know if it would be worth it. I like Bayless so unless we have some great plan as to what we'll do with the capspace, I'd just as soon hold onto him and find out if he's our answer at PG.

I understand what your thinking but the problem with it is Bayless is going to be better then Felton and Bibby very soon maybe even next year. I wouldn't mind renting Kidd for the rest of this year and the playoffs but wouldn't want to give up the big 3, Rudy or Bayless.

Thank god MARIS isn't the Blazers GM, otherwise you'd see Bayless and Roy shipped out of here so Rudy and Sergio can take their "rightful" spots as the starters on this team.

BAKE IT!

Wow. Am I the only one who suddenly loves Jerryd Bayless even more? If Dallas sees him as a replacement for Kidd, you gotta believe he has something special. Our future is looking very bright, and I love it! Go Blazers!

Are you a fan of the Blazers or what? That deal is disgusting. Diogu would be putting up similar numbers if his role with Bass was reversed. That's my opinion of course. Bayless by himself isn't worth trading for Kidd and Bass. Then you throw in RLEC and Channing just for fun. No thanks.

I'm a big, big fan of Rudy/Bayless/Batum, but it would have to depend on what's coming back. Rudy, to me, is the most expendable, since we have Roy. I think Rudy could be a tremendous player, and I'd be happy to keep him...but in a deal for, say, a Caron Butler level player, I'd happily part with Rudy. Less happily with Bayless or Batum. Though I guess bringing back a top-notch young prime small forward would lessen the impact of losing Batum.

I'm just really glad that the team has so much to offer in trade (Bayless, Rudy, Batum, Outlaw) without even considering the "Big Three" of Oden, Roy and Aldridge. As much as I like all the young players, I could definitely handle a major consolidation trade. Trading some combination of them for Devin Harris, for example, would be amazing. A present/future lineup of Harris/Roy/Batum/Aldridge/Oden (assuming Bayless, Rudy and Outlaw go for Harris) would be hard to beat.

Don't know if I'm part of that crowd, but since I have been vocal about Bayless not having PG skills yet (and not conceeding it is a given that he develops them) I want to be clear that I think Bayless was a great pick up at that spot and that he does contribute to the team.

That's all. :D

Don't get me wrong I would think long and hard about trading some of those guys for a All-Star level talent player at SF or PG, but It definitely would bother me because I love all the guys we have (minus Sergio and Outlaw when he does something stupid)

I think the whole fact that there is interest in him says something about him coming on. I also think Steve Blake trying to rush back also says something about what is going on in the Blazer PG position right now. Some may view it as the team needs him. I view it as he is trying to defend his job.

I knew Cuban supported the Blazers email for a reason . . . he wants to get a deal done with us.

Time to blow up the Mavs. I threw out Dirk before but got a lot of negative responses due to his defense . . . but i wonder if the Blazers could pull off getting Dirk.

Don't try to speak for me, since your attention span and comprehension skills seem lacking.:sigh:

Everyone here knows I am opposed to trading ANYONE this year, including Raef's contract, for ANYONE.

I have no desire at all to see any current NBA players become Blazers.

And I have stated many times I like Bayless, and I am for keeping him as a SG behind Roy and Rudy in the rotation.

Bake it! :chef:

Based on the first quarter against Charlotte.....that would be a resounding NFW!

My attention span and comprehension skills are just fine, thank you very much.

The search function is a pretty handy feature (I knew I'd find it somewhere).

Sergio and Rudy will both be starting by playoff time.

If not, we'll have a new coach next year.

To your credit MARIS, you didn't say trade, but what alternative could there be, bring Brandon off the bench?

I wouldn't mind Kidd on the team. :dunno: I wouldn't give Bayless for him...I wouldn't give Sergio for him. I'd feel bad giving up our first rounder this year. I'd give Blake and one of the backup PFs with Raef for him, but DAL would tell me to go home.

Stalemate.
