In the 2006 draft my picks were Rudy Gay and then BRoy. Morrison I felt would be a nice ROLE player to have if you could trade down to get him. (and by trade down i meant "cash")

Wow that has even turned out wrong. I kind of feel sorry for the guy, other than how much money he makes (I fall on the floor crying about that!) But seriously I thought the guy would have a better overall game. Maybe his coaches don't use him right, but my god Travis turned out so much better.

I hope the kid gets a break with someone. But right now he looks bad.

People hyped him up as the next Larry Bird. I had bought into the hype. Luckily, I'm not the GM.

He was injured all last year, so that hurts him a little bit, but I remember thinking at the time (in college) that he looked so slow and unathletic out there on the court ... crying like a little bitch in the tournament didn't do much to lift his stock in my mind either, but I digress ... I think he has some limited potential as a spot up shooter, but as far as going as high as he did in that draft, it boggles the mind.

If I remember correctly, here is how I had the draft ranked...

    1. LMA
    2. Gay
    3. Roy
    4. Bargnani
    5. Thomas
    6. Morrison

    In hindsight:
    1. Roy
    2. LMA
    3. Gay
    4. Rondo
    5. Millsap
    6. Bargnani

I never wanted Morrison, but even I'm surprised by how bad he is. I figured he'd at least be a volume scorer (high PPG, low FG%) on a bad team, but he's not even that. He had a PER of 7.9 his rookie year, which third lowest in the league for a starter, and third lowest for all players who averaged over 20 MPG. This year his PER is even lower (7.0).

I really think if John Nash had still been GM, he would have drafted Morrison - if available (he wouldn't have been, thanks to Charlotte). He'd already taken his PG (Telfair) and his SG (Martell), we had Zach at PF and Joel at Center. So, that meant SF was our most glaring (among many) need. That KP went for a PF and a SG just goes to show it's always best to take BPA - and you only draft for need if two players are otherwise comparable.

I'll man up and say that I wanted us to draft Morrison. Hell, I'll even go out and say that I preferred Morrison and Tyrus Thomas over Roy and Aldridge. God am I (and everyone else) glad that I'm not the GM.

I didn't predict that he'd be this bad, but I saw him as, at best, a Wally Szczerbiak player if I remember correctly.

He was a heck of a college player but he stinks in the NBA.

i'll never understand why people thought he was a good role player. it's not like he was a spot up shooter or a guy who ran around a bunch of screens to get open jumpshots. his offense consisted of him handling the ball and creating a shot for himself. either that was going to translate to the nba in some form or it wasn't. i could see him as a low percentage volume scorer to bring off the bench, but can't really understand the people who thought he was going to become a great spot up shooter.

The best part about Adam was tonight after the game he came out to the bus with a wad of chew in his lip and he did sign autographs. One guy had his can of skoal for Adam to sign but Adam told him he wouldn't sign it because he would put it on EBAY!

I don't get it...why is he looked down upon for that? He was the leader of his team at the time carrying Gonzaga through the tournament. That alot of pressure to come up short, and being the team leader he was he took it to heart. People who have played and understand what its like to leave everything out on the floor and come up short...it's an emotional moment. We don't hear people calling various other players like Michael Jordan a bitch because he cried when he won his first championship? When you have a passion for the game and put you all into it...emotions take over. I honestly don't see any downside to what he did...I can see if it was him pitching a hissy fit and crying to a ref over a bad call...but it wasn't. It was a dedicated player leaving it all out ont the court for his team....if anything...I think that helped his stock, showing teams how serious he take the game and how much of himself he puts into wanting his team to succeed. I'm sure many GM's would love for thier players to care that much.

I wanted Bargnani, then Morrison. I still like Bargnani, and think he is, and will continue to be one of the better players in that draft class, but I'm quite happy with how things turned out for us. I'm also quite shocked at what has happened to Morrison, in my wildest dreams(nightmares) I couldn't have imagined him having as rough a start to his career as he has had.

yeah, injuries have really set him back. But I still think he can contribute in the right situation...so I hope everything works out for him

I was very much against getting Morrison, but not because I had a brilliant insight into how bad he was going to be. It just seemed like the draft-the-stache folks were overvaluing the non-basketball stuff.

I thought his long hair was more interesting as well, his career is going downhill in just about every way possible.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
I didn't like Morrison at all. On the other hand, I did like Bargnani so ouch. That draft I correctly identified Tyrus Thomas and Adam Morrison as duds and Aldridge and Gay as worthy of top draft picks. My everlasting shame is that I wasn't too excited about Roy. I thought he was overvalued with limited upside. Ah well.

I always like Aldridge and when the trade was announced everyone in my room was sure it was going to be AM, then they took LA and i was the only one cheering. i do remember saying that LA would be the better of him and Roy, so far wrong on that one. i also liked gay in that draft but not so much bargini, although don't give up on him yet, he's put together a decent season in Toronto.

as for AM crying, i think he got alot of that flack because he started the break down before the game was even over. i have to say, everyone i knew that knows him personally laughed their asses off at him crying on the ground cause he is/was a major douche back in the day.
