Bye Bye Circuit City

  1. The sales were crap.

Pretty much everything was 10% off. Wii games were 30% off.

It was 10% off PS3's, full price for Wii/360's. Gamecubes were 50% off, but who wants that?

The Christmas sales were much better.

Shopko still exists? We had one here in Cedar Rapids, but they folded a loooong time ago. I'm also shocked KMart still exists around here considering how little business they do.

Kmart was bought by Sears, that is the only reason it is still around.

I just saw a going out of business CC commercial. LMAO. I've never seen such an upbeat commercial in my life.

right now at the circuit city here, everything is at least 10% off. tvs are all 15% off and there are various items 20 or 30% off but that's the most right now.

i'd assume it will be worth stopping by a circuit city in a month or so when the sales should be much better just to see what's left.

Circuit City were better then Best Buy by far. Matched prices with them and always beat them by quite a bit when I ask them for further discounts. Oh well, I'll just have to drive out to Fry's Electronics from now on.

Those are the only way to go these days. Frys is the best if you are impatient and want it RIGHT NOW!

Yeah I always thought that if one just brings up the price from some competitor, they would match it. There was a real nice CC nearby so I feel bad for them. Hopefully they can rebound somehow, or continue in some other venture.

We have a Tigers Direct store here and I personally don't like it. They have pretty high prices. At Fry's I find TVs, games and more for around 20% or more off the price anywhere else. For instance expensive new PC games you find elsewhere for $49.99 I will find them at Fry's for around $21.99 to $29.99. Fry's website doesn't do it justice because in-store prices here are much different. I never shop online with them. I've never tried newegg.com, monoprice.com or slickdeals.net. Thanks for the recommendations.

monoprice for ANYTHING audio related....especially wall mounts for LCD/Plasma TV's. I got their best one they have that can hold a 60inch LCD tv with reinforced aluminum extension arms for pivoting left and right, also pivots up and down. Under $100 shipped...those things go for up to $400-500 if you bought them in a store

You are by far the minority in that opinion. Or BB would be going out of business. BB price matches just as well and are just as easy to negotiate with.

I agree with Fry's. God, I love that place.

First time I went to Fry's I thought I was waiting to get on a ride at Six Flags with those HUGE lines.

    Still, a great store.

Shopping for hardware via stores is definitely a thing of the past. Online stores have so much choices, you have more time, and cheaper prices. Plus, you can now get shipping for the next day.
