Getting Conley for Howard would be so stupid. Felton for Howard is a little better, but I still don't know.
Terrible trade. Why would Dallas trade Howard for Felton or Conley? The Mavs would leave a big void at the 3 position. What would they do with Barrea? He might have had some success at shooting guard but that is not a long term situation. I don't see either Felton or Conley as a starter for the Mavs when Kidd is done. Both are good starters for their teams, but not for Dallas.
Kidd could really make Conley into something special. Of course, trading arguably your second or third most talented player for a young project pretty much declares that your team is in the rebuilding mode. And if that is the case, the Mavs would be wise to get something for Kidd before his deal expires, which would clearly take him away from the young PG we would be trading for.
I honestly don't think that the Mavericks would trade Howard this year, let alone for Felton or Howard; am I the only one who sees this to be an incredibly lopsided trade? Neither of those two PG's are very good, and we have Kidd and Terry, and Howard leaving would make a huge hole to be filled by Stackhouse .. and no thank you to that? If you were going to trade Howard (which I wouldn't), you'd need to get back a quality wing player and maybe a specialist like a freak 3 point shooter, or a shotblocker, or a defensive specialist. I just really don't see any trade happening.
