Amazing that it was only what 2 1/2 years ago that the Draft the Stache campaign was in full effect!

    Hello darkness, my old friend
He would need to have the media talking admiringly about him consistently. Tim Duncan isn't flashy, but the media does a good job of communicating his virtues to the fans, and Duncan has been seen winning playoff series and championships a lot.

For a generally non-flashy player like Roy, that's what it'll take. Winning championships and getting the media to constantly talk him up as one of the top players in the game. Also, of course, he'll need to not have guards who are clearly better than him. Chris Paul is clearly superior to him, but one is okay. Kobe Bryant has been clearly superior, but that gap is narrowing and should continue to as Roy gets closer to his prime and Kobe gets further from his. But another Paul or Kobe can't come along in the West.

As I said... when OKC is competing in the playoffs, and Durant has done that for multiple seasons, he merits discussion.

Agreed. It's ridiculous that the fans get to choose the All-Star starters. It's nothing but a popularity contest that favors the bigger cities. The coaches and GMs and/or NBA reporters should select the team. Period.

I suppose you think its also ridiculous that the people get to choose the Presidency as well?

The All-Star game is about the fans, the fans vote for who they want to see.

My gripe is that other countries shouldn't be allowed to vote.

Pretty silly, IMO. Fortunately, Stern isn't xenophobic.

An argument could be made that it's Canada's game, but whatever.....

I don't think fans should be able to vote AT ALL, no matter what country they're from. Coaches and players should vote. Or just coaches.

Hmmm like Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Germany, Spain and a host of other countries haven't provided NBA talent?

So Carmelo gets the snub in the West. Interesting...

I would have taken Hedo over Lewis, but the coaches know best I guess. I'm glad Granger got a shot.

Its not about being xenophobic. How much access do these countries have that our voting to NBA games? Nigerians can't vote for football or I'm sure Tim Biakabatuka would still be in the league. They fill the ballot boxes with their local heroes no matter if the player is deserving or not and it makes the All-Star game a joke.

    Heres more info on Carmello.
I think ROY deserves it because of his latest top 10 plays, big contributions as a leader, or dunks lately. I think this impacted the west coaches decision to let him on the squad.

Carmello's doing more overall for the Nuggets by not being there. Your right Coach Karl.

Except we have access to as much NBA as we want and our local, is city local not an entire country.

I remember that! Pretty scary thought nowadays. I'm glad KP doesn't pay much (if any?) attention to such silliness.
