The Blazers' beat reporter just stated two of our bench rotation players plus Raef's expiring contract may be traded to "an eastern team for a PG and SF.":
    http://sportstwo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=134048

The thinking is our Blazers wouldn't trade Przybilla (he's a great backup center). We wouldn't trade Fernandez (suave!) nor Bayless (are you nuts?). So that leaves Rodriguez and Outlaw.

I'm curious about what you guys think. Does the idea have any legs to it? Is it a good deal for Chicago? Seems like a steal for Portland to me.....

BTW--just to clarify, Raef's deal is pretty sweet from a money perspective. It's 80% covered by insurance, and it expires. So basically it's an easy way to wipe out a bad contract without taking much pain.

Is Chicago really looking to clear salaries that badly?

I'm pretty sure you aren't getting Deng and Hinrich. Deng's playing well now that he's finally healthy, and that'd be a pretty pointless exercise on the Bulls' part.

I don't know if Nocioni is considered an SF (he's just an F), but poop with joy if it were Hinrich+Noc for those three.

For you guys... well, start learning these phrases: toughness, energy, veteran leadership, mopey, missed assignments, streaky, long-term contracts.

Edit: Let me add... I think I'd do it for Deng if you added Rudy. That opens up an entirely different can of worms for the Bulls (set another SG), but I like Rudy a lot, and he's just starting his rookie deal. I'd take him and work like hell to trade Ben Gordon ASAP.

Sounds like Philly to me. Andre Miller is supposed to be available if they don't think they can resign him.

There is no legs to Hinrich + Deng. Hinrich + Nocioni might have some legs to it though.

Pax wouldn't deal Deng for either KG or Gasol. Hard to believe he'd trade him for bench players and an expiring deal.

We offered Deng for KG. Deng, Chandler, and the Tyrus Thomas pick.

We wouldn't offer Hinrich or Gordon for Gasol either. Gordon/Deng are somewhat understandable, but Hinrich? WTF.

There are no legs to it with Rodriguez either, the bulls don't need any more good young PG's. Hinrich and Deng for Fernandez and Outlaw and Raef starts to make some sense. Does that make Thabo the starting SF? Rose Fernandez Sefo Tyrus, Noah is hard to imagine.

Rodriguez stinks. He's nothing more than a throw in.

That's why Raef/Rodriguez/??? for Hinrich/Nocioni makes plenty of sense.

Doubt it. that would give us Noc, Outlaw, Webster, Batum and Rudy or Roy who would see time at SF. And Noc isn't a big upgrade in talent over really any of those guys (except Batum for now)

Outlaw or Webster would probably be coming back as well. One of those two.

Blazers probably figure they can play Nocioni at backup power forward some too.

Well Portland's beat writer did say it would make us contenders. Noc and Hinrich wouldn't make us contenders

Trades involving Vince Carter or Caron Butler are the only ones that can do that, and I don't quite see them going in this type of deal. The beat writer obviously doesn't know the names of those involved, so it could just be Kevin Pritchard blowing gas, thinking Hinrich/Nocioni would be enough to push them to that level. If they get 06-07 Hinrich and 05-06 Nocioni, then hell yeah they're right there. Their current incarnations? Have fun

Personally I'd rather do the Sessions and RJ deal someone brought up, and I hate RJ as a player.

I hate Nocioni more though, and I used to like Hinrich but now he is just kind of meh

I say it is Washington as our trading partner:

    Raef, Outlaw, Frye, Sergio

    for

    Jamison, Dixon (maybe Butler/Dixon)

But Tradechecker would find it acceptable to trade our four (above) and get Jamison/Dixon and Butler!

Interestingly, if the Bulls traded Deng and Hinrich for that package plus Rudy, we'd go into next year with something like $20M in cap space, I think. With that sort of scratch, we might well have a shot of getting a guy like Paul Millsap.

    1- Rose
    2- Rudy
    3- Outlaw, Thabo
    4- Millsap, Tyrus
    5- Noah

I have to say that sort of floats my boat.

I really wouldn't worry about this one... pretty much anything out of Jason Quick's mouth is pure bullshit, and almost any rumor that actually hits the wires is probably dead at that point anyway.

Why would you want that? Jamison and Butler are nice players but they've got nowhere to go but down.

butler is in his prime and is a great player. why you WOULDNT trade scraps for him is beyond me. even jamison would dramatically raise our overall talent level.

i have zero faith in deng and hinrich coming here, although i would love it if they did.

I can't see Hinrich/Deng, no way. Hinrich/Noc seems like a real possibility though. Although knowing Pax and how attached he is to his own players, he'd probably flinch now that the team is playing better at the moment.
