Later, Andrew Bogut is able to carve space in the post with impunity and scores on a routine layup.

Richard Jefferson then comes off a baseline screen, sets his feet from the left elbow, squares up and releases an uncontested jump shot that finds nothing but net.

And so began the Raptors' evening last night against their vulnerable visitors, the banged-up Bucks, who were dealt the cruelest of blows last Saturday when leading scorer Michael Redd sustained a season-ending knee injury.

No one is giving the Bucks much chance to maintain their perilous playoff position. No one believes a team whose offence has to run through the hands of Villanueva, Bogut or Jefferson can win consistently.

With the Raptors' situation turning serious, the team has yet to discover the need for playing with urgency from the opening tap.

For reasons not easily explained, the Raptors can't summon the necessary energy to begin games at home. Perhaps they can't, which, among other intangibles, separates good teams from the bad.

For the Raptors to be considered a good team, the time has arrived for Toronto to begin games with more purpose, especially on the defensive end.

raps are headed to the lottery. they cant getta playoff spot right now the way they've been playing. they been playin the same all season. too bad, the team looked like it coulda got to the 2nd round at most. giving kapono 24mil was a wrong move.
