Dana White suggested at the post-UFC 94 press conference that a convincing win by Jackson over Jardine at UFC 96 will put him first in line for a crack at Sugar Rashad's light heavyweight championship. A less than stellar performance, or a loss, and Machida will get it instead. Fair?
I think it is fair. Rampage wasn't beat convincingly. He murdered Wanderlei and if he can get past Jardine, I think he deserves a shot. The winner of Rampage/Rashad fights Machida. I've got no problem with it.
Lyoto is my favorite fighter, has been for a while, so obviously I think he should get one. But this really doesn't bother me. Rampage is a very likeable guy too, and Evans vs Machida or Rampage will yield a great fight regardless.
