I almost started a thread last night after the game about how dead the forum was after our big win. The reason - we totally dominated a division rival. Everybody played well and there were no critical coaching decision to second guess. The forum is MUCH more active after a loss.

This board is so infested with negativity that it boggles my mind. The old ESPN board and BBF board were NEVER this negative even when we were winning 27 or 21 games. That's right. Even during the low point of the Nash/Patterson era, the general tone of the forums was more positive than this board is now that we're on pace to win 50+ games.

I just don't get it. I'm totally enjoying this season and look forward to every game. But, every time I come here, it's a total downer. Why can't people here enjoy the team's success? I know a couple of the Debbie Downers just do it for the attention. I pity them. How empty their lives must be that the only way they can get any attention is pathetically trolling this board in the middle of our best season in NINE years.

It's only natural to want your team to succeed (or at least I though it was) and be disappointed when they fail. There has been so much more success than failure for this team this season, but you'd never know it from the general tone of this forum. Even when we were losers, we acted like winners. Now that we're winners again, why are so many of us acting like losers?

I predicted 56 - 58 wins and battling for HCA. While it's a stretch, 56+ wins is still possible and I'm sticking with my prediction.

At this point, I think 54 wins is more likely, but I'm an optimist and think the team will keep improving. So, getting to 56 - 58 is not totally out of range.

BTW, our current 0.630 winning percentage has only been exceeded 5 times in the last 20 years, and all 5 times we made it at least as far as the Western Conference Finals.

We're also on pace to better the 49-33 regular season record of that magical 1976-77 championship season.

And yet, many in this forum post nothing but negativity.

Very happy with #8. Next year, we'll be #4 at this time.

I think for some, the negativity of the past few years will take some time to pass. For others, it is as you mentioned, they are in need of attention.

Personally, it has been (literally) years since I felt this confident in the Blazers going into each and every game.

    Lovin it.

I'd be happy to err to the positive! Matter of fact I think I said at least 52, ya that's it.

Amazing thing to me is that we've got a better team than the Suns.

Amare, Shaq, Richardson, Nash, Hill. That's a starting lineup of 5 All Stars, and two of them are MVP's!

I know these guys are badly fit and over-the-hill, but there's no way a bunch of kids should have a better record than them.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Well, Hill is a shadow of his All-Star prime. Richardson hasn't ever been an All-Star, I don't think.

But yeah, Nash and Amare have really fallen off this year. If they were playing at past levels, they'd be a pretty tremendous team, considering Shaq has actually been relatively effective this season.

Huh, I just assumed Richardson had been an All-Star.

Hill is a shadow of his former self, but so was Pippen when he was here. Yeah, I know Hill isn't as good as Pip was here, but the guy isn't completely washed up. He's a smart player who still has something in his tank.

As for Amare--I think he's kind of becoming the new Allen Iverson (circa 2002). One of the five best players in the league, yet one you don't exactly covet.

I would just be excited to get to the big dance. I want to see our boys in the playoffs. HCA would be lovely, but mostly I just want to get there this year.

Spurs rodeo trip starts tomorrow. Tough 8 game road trip. They usually dominate it though.

    Hahaha!

I agree that if you are going to talk about THE youngest team in the league, you look at the entire roster.

If you want to talk about something else, define it concretely, like BengalDuck suggested.

(Age*minutes played)/team minutes played would be a good one. I would IMAGINE that Portland is leading in that stat, but it's conceivable we'd still be behind Golden State or another team.
