http://mmajunkie.com/news/13890/dana-white-says-ufc-primetime-series-will-return.mma ...who is your guess? Mir/Lesnar seems to be the smart bet, but Couture/Nogueira would also be compelling. Dana thinks getting Lesnar to cooperate would be harder than it was for BJ Penn, though I find that hard to believe--Brock doesn't have anything to hide. Primetime cost the UFC $2-million but a huge live gate for the event coupled with a massive PPV buy rate (estimated to be over 1-million buys again) will pay for it many times over.
Dana said with the price tag they'd do it 2-3 times a year. For this year, Evans vs Machida is a must. They need to generate buzz for the casual fan for this matchup because I don't think either are huge PPV draws. Mir vs Lesnar is an option, but if Dana thinks Lesnar will be hard to get on board, it's most likely because Lesnar like his privacy. In the countdown show, it showed how he built his own gym and brings guys to his gym to help him train. I could see them NOT doing it for a Chuck vs whomever fight because Chuck already sells PPV's. Randy vs Nog possibly, but umm it's not a title fight. Anderson Silva vs ????? is a possibility to sell PPV's as well. I assume they only do this if they can extend Silva's contarct too.
The thing is, with Brock, he already draws a lot of fans in so maybe it isnt necessary for a primetime show. Doing a show for Rampage vs whoever is LHW champion would be great though. Rampage is a great personality and it would be a fun show to watch.
I would love to see them do a Rashad/Rampage prime time if that match happens. I think it would be hilarious. I don't know if a Mir/Lesnar would be as entertaining.
