I'd say he's comparable with a young Tracy McGrady (when he was with Toronto) a highflyer, a good defensive player, a decent offensive player.

Iggy is the classic University of Arizona product. Did he go there? An athlete without much fundamentals in place. It usually takes those type of players a few years to develop, look at Richard Jefferson for example.

I was about to say RJ. Only Iggy's more hyped, and better at D.EDIT: Spelling.

RJ is not at all overatted. He gets his points without having any plays whatsover ran for him. If he were on another team as its key player he would definatly be an all-star..Like Mark Jackson said on the YES network broadcast the other day, he would be a Shawn Marion type player..

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (PrimeTime @ Mar 5 2006, 08:39 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Your really putting up blocking stats to show that Yao is a better defender then camby? Yao is a terrible defender, one of the softest defenders i've ever seen, and if a 7'6 player does get more blocks then a 6,10 player i'd think something was wrong, not that he's a better defender. Yao is one of the weakest man defenders i've ever seen, and constantly is taken to the hole, add that with low stamina and injury proneness, and a being an average rebounder, he's nothing more then a post player. And yao is not as good as Camby, Camby is a good offensive player, with amazing defensive abilities, and much better rebounder and more consistent. As far as Miller goes his completeness makes him more valuable, although as far as pure C's go Yao may be better, but i'd much rather have a big man who isnt injury prone, cant shoot 3's,rebound, and make plays. Yao is not as great as your making him out to be, he should be an allstar but no way in hell should he get more votes then a guy who just dropped 81 points like it was nothing.</div>Shows how much you know (which isn't alot)- Yao is a shotblocking/shotaltering FORCE under the bucket. He is one of the hardest workers in the game- and contests every shots (even the ones you cant contest- which is the reason BSPN shows lot of "posters"). Defensive +/- (for big-name centers):Big Ben: -8.1Yao Ming: -6.2Camby: -2.5Brad: +1.9 (which is HORRIBLE, btw)Shaq: +5.6 (his backup is Zo which could be a big reason for it)Yao isn't injury-prone (he's missed like 20 games in his career), Yao can't shoot 3s, and Yao can reboundAnd for the last time about him being the leading vote-getter: HE ISN'T COMPETING FOR VOTES AGAINST KOBE!

That doesnt mean anything, they dont show when Yao is standing around doing nothing and then he goes for a double team on the outside and leaves someone open for an easy dunk, or when he justs moves out of the way when a player a foot smaller then him goes to dunk on him. Yao is a terrible defender, I really never knew how bad defensive stats were, but if they're saying Yao is a great defender, they must really be wrong. And yao is not a hardworker, he's one of the softest players i've ever seen when it comes to abusing players in the post on offense and defense, he's not even that great rebounder despite being 6 inches taller then the biggest centers. Your really biased man, I like Ben Gordon but I dont try to make him look better then Kobe Bryant [IMG] And yes Yao might not compete with Kobe starting C(which yao doesnt even deserve starting C), but He does not deserve to have 10 million more votes then Kobe Bryant whose scoring 35 a game just because he's chinese.

All you do is watch Sportscenter and make your judgements based on their stupid highlight reels.I look at the facts- analyze them, and make judgements based on what I see.The numbers don't lie, Yao's teams do better defensively with him on the floor, than Cambys/Brads/Shaqs do. THAT IS A FACT.

He seems lost out there, some times. He doesnt try to stop little guys when they dunk over him. Face it. He does not belong in the same sentence defensively as Marcus Camby.

THAT IS A FACT.</div>Of course I never watch Rockets games even though I've been a fan of the team for almost 10 years [IMG] Yao does nothing on the defensive end but block shots, and I didnt just say ''I didnt know how bad defensive stats are'' Even though they are really bad if they make Yao good, I told why they are, like how Yao will leave the post wide open for a lay up or dunk, and how he just moves out of the way when penetraters come by. He's also very foul-prone and even if he does play decent defense for a few minutes occasionally, by the end his stamina is so bad that he justs stands around and lets players go to the line on him. Yao is not a good defender, A good defender is Bruce Bowen, who bodies up on the player, and plays them very hard(maybe too hard but officials cut him a lot of breaks) but he is what good defense is, not just standing around waiting to block a couple shots with your huge wingspan, move your legs Yao! :wink:And yes your biased, your assuming I never watch Rockets games, because your so used to having to defend him agaist general NBA fans, and your explaining(with bad reasoning) why Yao is basketball god.

When your 7'6 300 pounds it's hard to play great defense, his height is a great thing and a bad thing. Tall people like Yao are always going to look awkward on defense because he has slow lateral quickness and is slow to react.

Yao is a POST DEFENDER, he's not going to body people up like a Bruce Bowen.Yao anchors one of the best defenses in the game (he has NO weakside help which does result in alot of easy buckets. BUT most of that blame should lie on the shoulders the boneheaded defensive minds of Juwan Howard and Stromile Swift)He clogs the middle very well, is a damn good shotblocker/shotalterer. His team is one of the best defensive teams in the league, and the defense is better with him on the floor. What more can I say? I'm presenting the facts- and all you do is ignore them. It's strange how alot of your arguments come from Sportscenter or boxscores- yet you claim that you follow Rocket games and have been a Rockets fan for 10 years.

Yao Ming isn't that good of a defender...he's just so big that he causes problems more than anything else.

You seem to like to put words in my mouth i've noticed. The Rockets are not one of the best defensive teams, There are many better teams, if anything other then injuries that's been their downfalls and their defense is a huge part of why they collapsed to the Mavs great offense in the 1st round.

Rockets have the 5th lowest opponents PPG, and the 3rd lowest opponnents FG%I'd call them one of the best defensive teams.Another big reason to collapsing to the Mavs is the fact that the Mavs is a MUCH BETTER TEAM than Yao, TMac, and nobody. Also the fact that the refs ROBBED the Rockets in game 5.

That's because the Rockets are so bad the opponent brings in their bench players.

I was only kidding. One of my favorite players to hate is Baron Davis. He's a ballhog, he's a terrible shooter, he has been notorius for coming to camp over weight, he gave up in New Orleans and stayed out of games he could have played and he's injured constantly.

RJ was a better defender, though, and not a very good shooter back then. However, he improved his game alot every year since coming into the league..
